Trump tweets implying the widow is a liar. What is wrong with Trump? What human gene is missing that makes him accuse rather than comfort? Put yourself into this scenario. If someone misunderstands you in a situation like this, if they are hurt instead of comforted then any decent - DECENT - human being would apologize for their selection of words, their tone or whatever lead to the misunderstanding. They would try to make things better, not worse.

They spoke to people plenty. All presidents since the advent of telephonic communication have, at some point, called a few widows/parents of deceased servicemen/women.
This is classic Trump. I'm pretty sure this would all have long gone away if he'd just been more gracious when criticized.

Here's the thing. We all know Trump is lying. But even if he wasn't....even if Trump WAS telling the truth about knowing Sgt Johnson's name (he's not), why would the Commander in Chief, the President of the United States, feel the need to speak out about it!? Is calling the widow of a soldier who died a liar really a classy thing to do? He can't just let it go, take the high road, and let her grieve peacefully without the POTUS calling her a liar?
That was a trick question, of course he can't. Trump is scum.
I hate Trump, but I haven't been a fan of this media frenzy. That said, Trump just keeps digging. And digging. And digging. The media wouldn't pay they story half as much interest had Trump responded as you suggested above. Is it too much to ask him to be professional and courteous?
Yes, that is asking far too much of Trump. He's incapable of it.
