At least it's something to defend themselves with. Now all teachers/students have is harsh words and their bodies. I've been hit by rocks and they can do damage.. Even some baseballs, how many people here have ever eaten one of those?

To expensive but you are half right.

Make use of existing resources. Teacher aid going from student to student giving hand****. I've never heard of anyone getting a hand**** gunning anyone down. It may sound like to much pampering but do it for the kids. Safety first !!!!

What about adding some slingshots to those buckets of rocks?

Otherwise, I was thinking that paintball guns would also be a good way to distract a shooter. And they have a good range and accuracy. A school's defensive paintball guns would have to be brightly coloured in a way that the police would know that it wasn't a real firearm.

I think that students should be taught how to defend themselves. And that knowledge is always helpful later on in life, especially for the girls. And maybe, a disgruntled student/would be shooter might not try attack his fellow students at school. But of course, this wouldn't stop an attack in a solitary area (like with a baseball bat in the woods).

We really need to focus on how to prevent angry students from thinking that they need to vent their frustrations out against their fellow students in such deadly ways. What about setting up punching bags in the gym to vent on?

Meh. Current school of thought is for kids to throw desks and books at shooters. Why is it so ridiculous to suggest the use of rocks?

I hope you guys who think that this is a "solution" are kidding. Either that, or you haven't thought things through or have no experience n a classroom except as a student.

The first thing that would happen if an armed individual entered a classroom would be mass panic, from 99.999999999999999999% of teachers down to the kids. Kids, by the way, who cry if there's a lockdown drill. That's high school.

The next thing that would happen would be the individual would do what he came to do. There would be no "distribution" of river rock to throw at him.
