Gates will be on the stand either this afternoon or Monday. The defense is going to try to fry Gates in butter and depict him as the one who committed all the crimes without Manafort's knowledge. He will be painted as a criminal who cannot be trusted to tell the truth.

They forget that Gates is the one who has already pleaded guilty and is cooperating fully with the prosecution in hopes of receiving a reduced sentence. He has nothing to gain at this point by lying to anyone, and everything to lose if he is caught telling anything but the whole truth. He has not been promised anything for his cooperation except a letter from Mueller to the judge (which I think will also be Ellis) about his confession and cooperation. The defense is, as they say, going to fall on its ass in front of the judge and god and everybody. You will be able to take Gates' testimony to the bank, no pun intended.

Manafort's daughter also said this. Which means Trump likely knew about the meetings with Russians' if Trump is basically managing his own campaign at the time Corey was "campaign manager for show". This is who was campaign manager in June 2016 when the Russian meeting took place at Trump Tower:

Tweet from Manafort's daughter:

The campaign manager is all for show. [Corey Lewandowski] doesn’t do ****. Trump has been managing his own campaign

I was led to understand that he took the campaign manager's job at no salary.

Is that true?

Pardons do not really help Trump or those who accept them.

Anyone who accepts one is admitting to their guilt with their acceptance of said pardon. If the are subpoenaed to testify, they are compelled to testify about all aspects related to their pardon without the ability to assert a 5th Amendment right against self incrimination relating to said case since they have already admitted to their acts and guilt by accepting the pardon. For if they are not guilty, why did they accept the pardon?

Now if they lie or refuse to comply, they can go to jail.

That's my understanding.

One of the interesting factors in this case is the small bank in Chicago that lent him 10 million for s house worth 3 million. The CEO expected s job as secretary of the army in return even though supposedly Manafort was no longer part of trump's world.

Cognitive dissonance. Look it up.
If he's guilty, put him in jail. BTW, what is Manafort guilty of besides being Trump’s campaign manager? I get it, he's been tried and convicted in the media and many of you have him lined up for the firing squad. But if a Manafort conviction is such a sure thing, why did Mueller hand him off? In case you folks haven't noticed, the prosecution is doing a ****-poor job. The one thing they have going for them is deep blue Alexandria, land of the Trump haters.
