Republicans have argued that the federal rule has allowed Big Tech firms to censor their political opponents—while some have gone further, arguing that social media giants should be regulated as utilities.

“This lawsuit is just the beginning,” Trump said of the suits.

Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act allows internet companies to be generally exempt from liability for the material that users post. The law, which provides a legal “safe harbor” for internet companies, also allows social media platforms to moderate their services by removing posts that, for instance, are obscene or violate the services’ own standards, so long as they are acting in “good faith.”

Trump’s lawyers said the lawsuit will focus on provisions in Section 230, which they argued was created in the 1990s to protect children from harmful content online. The way in which Big Tech firms currently use the law as a shield, his team argued, oversteps what it originally intended to do.

“They are not immune anymore,” lawyer Pam Bondi said.

If you can't trusdt the Epoch Times citing a lawyer who delivered a speech at the RNC to deliver an objective and disinterested analysis, just who can you trust?

I’d be surprised if ANYONE would work for that fool in any capacity, let alone an attorney. They must be lobotomized to agree to that fate worse than death.

The point is there usually isn't, just like with Trump and his lies. That's the reason he's been censored, for spreading misinformation and fomenting violence. Good for them to take steps to keep his brand of crazy in check.

This will be funny when hen runs in 2024 and actually wins the nomination. Will the media still ban him and make it more official that they are an arm of the DNC? This will get very interesting and they are playing with fire for being so bias for 1 side over the other. That's like a Catholic Church and the Jews taking 1 political party over the other on steroids

I was wondering when you'd show. The control of free speech is the issue, not Trump not anything but that issue.

Not sure what other companies will do, but I think he's banned permanently from Twitter.

Free speech has its limits, as evidenced by Trump's lies and these companies' actions to not give him a platform.

It is very entertaining to see the Trump City-Data people get all excited like anything will actually come from these lawsuits, though.

What rules were those? like telling the "truth" in political matters. If that's the case all Presidents and all politicians would be ban from social media. See the b.s. you Democrats create for your TDS?
