Uh huh.
People who close doors and drawers all the way are normal. So are people who don't close them all the way.

People who are abnormal are the ones who have to walk around closing any drawers or doors that someone else left open.

I guess you're entitled to that opinion, which is exactly what it is, and worth exactly what I paid for it.

I want to ask you a question though. Say you live with someone who goes behind you closing doors and drawers. How does that harm you? Does it bother you for them to close doors and drawers after you've left them open and left the room?

If I leave doors open and the other person needs to close them behind me, I would probably think that is a little weird, but it wouldn't bother me that much as long as I wasn't harassed about leaving the doors open. If there were many other OCD behaviors in addition to this it probably would have an effect on other things, though

So would you point out that you thought their behavior was a little weird or that you considered this OCD behavior or would you just let it go? If you would point it out, would you be irritated if they pointed out that they thought your behavior was a manifestation of some sort of disorder?

It depends on how it was done. If they were following me around and closing drawers and doors behind me, I would probably say something about it being uncomfortable. Same if they nagged me about it.

If it was just done in passing as the other person was in the room, I would see no problem with it.

OK.

So if you and someone you shared a home with were cooking together and they kept closing cabinets or drawers that you left open, would that make you feel uncomfortable? Would you say something to them about it?

I didn't read all 200+ posts in this thread, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned...

Seems most of you are saying that the person being bothered by the drawers/cabinets being left opened are OCD... maybe.

But there is another side to this.

Leaving drawers/cabinets open is a known habit of people with ADHD. The larger symptom is called inability to finish a task.

My wife leaves every drawer in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, closet wide open. Drives me nuts. Looks like our house was robbed constantly.

Nope. I wouldn't care. As long as I wasn't getting harassed for leaving them open.

Hard to believe this topic has over 200 posts. I still don't see the big problem.....if an open drawer or cabinet bothers you, shut it. Otherwise, live and let live.
