Halfway through winter and we have a little over half our annual snowfall total at ORD. Midway is lagging behind. Crazy how a distance of 11 miles can see such a difference.

Not much snow up in the Twin Cities so far this winter

We should be picking up another 2-5 inches of snow tonight more in Northwest Indiana by the lake effect snow zones

NWS Snow total forecast pieced together from different offices. Northern Mid Atlantic Bullseye.
I guess nothing for the Hudson Valley

Looks like a decent moderation for those of you in the deep cold.

By Tuesday a southwest flow sets up across the USA mainland. Temps in the 30's and 40's F across the central and northern tier... 50's and 60's across the southern tier....and 70's F from Gulf coast to Florida.

Great timing just before the weekend. Let's see if I can finally take the kids sledding on Saturday. It has been over 2 years.

Nostalgia day (January 18 2018 cold front, and January 18 2022 first frosts) for my Southeast US weather monitoring!

Surprise for Bulloch! The official Charleston Battery station only reached 2C!
I guess it's that lucky combo of being to the east and immediately on the water.

It looks like (at least according to the NWS) that a few stations in far NW Florida did not make it to have a high of 50 F/10 C yesterday.

Low of 20 F here this morning. It was colder than yesterday morning due to the radiational nature of frost hollow Statesboro's performances.

KDNL got down to 28 F
KSAV got down to 25 F
KCHS got down to 27 F. Now I'm curious how the Battery fared.
Zone 9B Tybee Island got down to 32 F sometime between midnight and 2 AM before getting warmer.

Have they had a freeze yet this season, including both this morning, as well as that December morning when the KCHS dropped to 27 F? I want to know if there are any remaining seasonal non-Florida freeze free locations in the southeast. How have other coastal locations in the Carolinas fared?

Norway and Scandinavia now has more than three consecutive months with temperatures well below normal, often with a high pressure around Northern Scandinavia. For much of Norway this will change starting the coming weekend, as Atlantic air will start to dominate. Currently a very cold evening here.
My forecast for Trondheim (temps in Celsius):
