No, it doesn't.

I don't really see this as an argument
As a weather enthusiast, I just clarified a possible wrong assumption

at Oceanic climates precludes weather that isn't tropical in genesis.

You pointed out that a high from the sw wouldn't have a tropical genesis which is correct.

This is what weather forums are all about.

Trade winds in Virginia? LOL, who came up with that?

Absolutely zero trade winds there whatsoever.

In regards to gardening, I think the culture is fairly weak in the US.

NZ is simply oceanic climate, oceanic climates can get high pressure from anywhere whether tropical or polar.

You are right. But remember Virginia has strong influence from the Bermuda high shaping it’s climate. Well in summer(May-Sept for Virginia) it gets tropical air, but trade winds? The Atlantic ocean influences Virginia, and the Bermuda high gets the influence from the humidity of the ocean itself and the tropical air flowing from more southern areas, and it is near the limit from getting Saharan air too. This affects Virginia, but to say the trade winds make its climate it is not the best way to say it.

The westerlies, and some Sahara desert air that affects the Bermuda high do affect Virginia to some point. So it is also inaccurate to say that there is no trade winds affecting Virginia’s climate.
