1. You can "reclassify" Christianity as a cult as easily as Islam.
2. We're not Germany and have a different civil-rights tradition than Germany.
3. Cults are not outlawed in Germany.
4. Scientology is not legally classified as a cult in Germany.
5. Scientology is legal and active in Germany.
6. Kennesaw is not threatened by Islamic extremism.
7. Kennesaw might be threatened by Islamic extremism if the government banned Islam and proclaimed it a cult.

It'll damn well be relevant to you if they blow you up!

re 3, 4, 5: You are correct. Germany has tried but not yet succeeded in banning Scientology. But they nonetheless do not classify it as a religion, but rather as an "abusive business".

re 6, 7: You have no idea who's being threatened. Can you guarantee that any particular locale in the U.S. or in the world is not threatened by Islamic extremism? How do you know? Do you have a direct line to the Calif in ISIS in Iraq or whatever hole he hangs out in?

re 1-2: 99.9% of Christianity does not currently promote violent jihad. 20% of Islam currently does promote violent jihad. Almost all of the violent conflicts in the world today are related to Islamic extremists.

And that would still not stop me from respecting their rights as citizens. Someone has to stand up for liberty and justice for all.

You sound like an irrationally frightened person. I don't go through life with that much fear.

Nor do I. I'm just in the real world, and you sound like a naive liberal

I know Kennesaw isn't threatened because there is absolutely no evidence of any past, present or future terrorist threat to Kennesaw. The complete and total absence of any evidence is sufficient to meet my (and most sane people's) threshold for knowledge. Indeed, we would ordinarily call people who feel threatened despite the absence of any evidence that a threat exists "paranoid."

I withhold judgment on your statistics, but they're irrelevant to the Constitution and to my point in (1) and (2). Either both Christianity and Islam are protected, or neither of them are.

That being said, the liberal hypocrisy on any muslim issue is just laughable for many reasons already mentioned in this thread.

Gay muslim = death penalty
Woman fights back against rapist = stoned or hanged in public
Woman caught in adultery = stoned or hanged in public
Be a Christian in muslim nation = death penalty

And the one the takes the cake . . . no other religion in the world encourages and celebrates publicly "in the name of Allah" the beheading, death, and slaughter of innocent people.

Granted none of that has happened in Kennesaw, but I assure you that the above reasons are 100% why the mosque was denied. A Buddhist or Hindu temple or Jewish synagogue would have been easily approved.
Thank god another sane person exists. As a liberal I am downright disgusted by my parties acceptance of such vile thinking. And the most annoying thing is that if you point these very valid issues out to a lib they will scream at you for being "ignorant" and "racist". Now I know what Conservatives mean by "annoying political correctness".

Bless your heart. I wish I could have people tell me what to think, and paint my enemies with black and white brushes of "liberal" or "islamist" or what have you to make myself feel better about all the fear inside me, but I live in a world that I approach from MY internal code. Not external manipulation. Not what the news tells me to be afraid of today.

I bet you were wigging out over ebola too, weren't you?

Yes, it's so very, very difficult in this country to find someone else willing to express anti-Islamic sentiment!
