I wonder if the so far sensational Yordan Alvarez can sustain his assault on AL pitching. Baseball Prospectus rated him the # 49 top prospect in the nation in this year's book, but had him projected at .244/.313/.433. Alvarez is performing way above that level.
Tough loss last night. Miley was superb, but in hindsight, Hinch should’ve pulled him after 8 or at least after the first base runner in the 9th. I know we all wanted him to finish out the complete game.
Imagine if Miley hadn't given up those hits. Imagine, too, if the Astros had taken better advantage of Mike Fiers in the early going. Houston's overdue for a no-hitter, let alone a perfect game.

Right now, GS, you'll start hearing rumbles of Alvarez in consideration for Rookie of the Year in the AL. The more he piles on the numbers, the more you'll hear others mention him more than, say, Vlady, Jr.

I think that the Rays Brandon Lowe is still the man to beat at the moment. Alvarez has a 1.086 OPS after 137 plate appearances. One never knows, but it would seem unlikely that he will be able to keep it up there the rest of the way.

In the recent 11-1 win, Alvarez became the first player (since RBIs became an official statistic in 1920) to hit 35 RBIs in his first 30 MLB games.
He broke the old record of 34 RBIs in a player's first 30 MLB games set by Pujols in 2001.
Well, alas, he didn't, and now he's gone. Nice to have known you, Max.
