Well a horse around here goes for around $3,000 for a used, descent 10 year old model. If gas keeps going up the way it did this week, a horse might be a darn good idea. On Monday regular went to $4.199, today all the prices went up another 10¢ to $4.299 for regular and $4.999 for diesel. $5 diesel is already here, I will be lucky to get gas at costco for $4.10 even. More and more people are going to have to give up essentials like health care.

I was an aircraft mechanic for 23 years. When I first started, jet fuel was 7 cents a gallon. Sad to see the airlines folding up. It's time to re-regulate the airlines or they will eventually become one.---At least a horse gives you something for your money. Plus doesn't use oil, gas, wiper fluid, antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission, gearbox, could go on forever. And you don't ever have to wax a horse! take care, skitow

Filled up today at Costco at $4.099 for regular, that is the lowest around here. The rest of the stations are $4.299 for regular and diesel went up again today to $5.199 a gallon. Diesel has gone up 50¢ since May 12th.

Yesterday, Burbank Costco was $ 3.85 a gal. It's usually about 10 cents cheaper than anywhere else .

My favorite Shell station is essentially at $4 now ($3.99 9/10). The 76 extortionist down the street is charging $4.07. These are the prices for regular.

Here's a laugh: On my way to work, I pass a Thrifty station. Regular there? $4.19! Puh-leeease! I figure I'm being "thrifty" by never buying gas there!

If I've already posted this link, please ignore it... but here is a timely National Geographic article from June 2004! End of Cheap Oil @ National Geographic Magazine

And here is a new link, from a current National Geographic article: World Oil - National Geographic Magazine

$4.39 for gas, $5.12 for diesel.

It's a good thing most of us don't want to travel far from here
