Oh, I'm sure people would have shown up if fire was raining down. You seem to have more faith in people than I do. Republicans will bad mouth Democrats no matter what and the Dems will do the same thing. It's all about the spin these days. Maybe it always was and I just notice a lot more now.
It's done more nowadays...
They already had the busing excuse in place if they held it at the stadium. Not sure why the GOP uses the dumbest talking points to discredit the Dems.

I don't know why anyone would have made an issue out of this and find it embarrassing that they have tried to.

It wasn't just the Republicans. it was predicted earlier in the week by the Daily Mail. The article is linked on the first page.
But convention sources exclusively told the MailOnline on Tuesday that the real reason behind the switch was fears within the Obama campaign that there would be large numbers of empty seats in the 74,000-seater stadium. The Time Warner arena has a capacity of just over 20,000.
A convention worker told MailOnline on Tuesday: ‘It looks like a done deal to me. The decision’s apparently been taken and it’s just a matter of spinning it as being forced on us by the weather.’ As the source was speaking, Democrats were saying publicly the event would go ahead as planned.
The article was placed on the Daily Mail's front page more than 24 hours before it was announced.
I was wondering what the weather was in Charlotte. It's pouring here in Chapel Hill with flash floods. It looks like a good call from over this way. The lightning this year has been pretty frightening, for real. I was standing in a store near a giant 200+ yr old oak tree that got struck — crazy intense. I think the chance of a lightning strike like at the Rangers-Twins game is just not worth it.

And again, as you even pointed out in other threads, the estimated attendance for the entire DNC had been 35,000 all along. If their estimates were accurate, then they would have known all along that the stadium would not be full.

Oh no! The lightning sounds awful.
It appears that the call was definitely the right one.
Frankly, I am relieved they made the change. I hate they had to do it, but it just wasn't worth taking a chance on.
