What some may not be considering is that Brooklyn by itself is similar to Chicago in population and has a slightly higher black percentage. Parts of the borough like Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, Crown Heights, Canarsie, Flatlands, East New York and adjacent parts of Flatbush, Clinton Hill and Fort Greene are predominantly or pluralistically more black and are pretty connected. So, Brooklyn by itself could be compared to the city of Chicago.

Then, when looking outside of the cities, southern suburbs, some places north of the city and parts of NW Indiana is generally where you see higher concentrations/percentages in the Chicago area. In the NYC area, such places are more spread out and can be found in just about every county in the area like Spring Valley in Rockland County, Mount Vernon in Westchester County, many of the places in NE NJ(Newark, Irvington, the Oranges, Englewood, etc.) and Long Island(Hempstead, Elmont, North Valley Stream, Wyandanch, Wheatley Heights, North Amityville, etc.), among others. So, the impact is likely to be felt differently in that regard.
Yeah I definitely wouldn't take Chicago's overwhelming lead in the poll too seriously. Even if Chicago is blacker, it definitely isn't by that much.

New York and Philly were the only cities developing Hip Hop until around 1983 or so. They both had Hip Hop radio stations in the late 70s. Just recently I was surprised to find that Chicago didn't have a Hip Hop scene until the early/mid 90s. I guess Twista and Common were the first Chicago rappers, or at least the first to be signed.

Ny created hiphop so by default they're the most influential city

But I can argue that Chicago has been much more influential than NYC in the past 15 years

That's bc house music was king.

Infact most of the earliest rappers from Chicago were hiphouse rappers

African american - Chicago

Black people - NYC

NYC is home to many large black communities throughout the diaspora. African American, Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad, Guyana, Senegal, Ghana, Panama etc.

Chicago’s black community is pretty much virtually all African American.

When it comes to Black American maybe a Chicago vs Detroit, Philly or Baltimore thread would make sense.

When it comes to diaspora black people NYC, DC, Miami are in their own category here.

Chicago definitely has/had a more influential black community than New York (i.e. Johnson Publications, Rainbow Push headquarters, birthplace of the Defender, President Obama roots).

Versus Hip Hop, the Harlem Renaissance, Wall Street(check who built it), where the NAACP started, Urban League HQ's, etc. for NYC. Again, this isn't as cut and dry as some may think.

What is your source for claiming that all of Chicago's Blacks are African American. Please share.

Chicago's Black population has dropped about 250,000. Do these numbers take that into account? Hispanics are now the second largest racial/ethnic group in Chicago.
