Actually that's not entirely true. I take it you're speaking of national news, but here in Philly where there's been two incidents involving kids in the past couple of weeks, it's been the number one local news item. People are appalled. They want these dudes caught.
Also, there are reports of any shooting no matter what neighborhood. There are also numerous events set up to protest senseless violence in all neighborhoods. By people of all races.
The issue as I see it is that there's a system in place in the super poor hoods that exists outside the law and is how kids are brought up to survive. The schools are terrible, education is nil, the residents barely go beyond their own block so they don't aspire to anything much other than their own neighborhood hierachy. That's the way to family, money and survival. It's an incredibly harsh and stressful environment that young children live under on a daily basis. When you have a drug addicted, gang driven, all beefs solved with violence lifestyle you're going to have to adapt or die. Unfortunately there are few people that escape the cycle. There are a lot of inherently good people that are stuck there. There are older generations that have lived in one house their family has owned for multiple generations that have seen their block go to hell over drug turf and disrespect violence. But it's their home. They don't want the stress and crap any more than anyone else would.
I believe the answer is not necessarily money, it's mentoring and education for the kids before they get sucked into the whole vicious merry go round.

And I've never said there weren't solutions to the problems in the ghettos. I just merely meant that what happens in the ghetto, as tragic as it is, doesn't have that much shock value outside of local networks.

Interesting perspective. On a side note, it is easier to understand what you are writing if you first make sure that the words are spelled correctly.
I don't approve of slavery. A little history is in order. Slaves were bought and sold by people of color. Even today that goes on. Slavery has not ended and the business is mostly people of color. Next time you blame the white people for having slaves you may want to blame the Brothers in the African Continent for selling them to the white people. The law may have changed here in this blessed nation but slavery continues till this day. What are your thoughts on the current slave trade?
