Post Teaching in Denver?

Hi-

Hoping to get some help from my fellow Denverites

I'm thinking about pursuing a state teaching license for secondary (high school) in science.

I've looked online and I'm simply lost as to where to begin. I know MSCD has a licensure program, but is there a need for science teachers here? What about PE teachers? My BS is in exercise science and I have alot of science tutoring experience at community colleges.

Can anyone enlighten me about the pay scale in Denver? How about a need for high school science teachers? Or maybe a website or two to start looking at? That would be super!

A big thanks in advance

Try the Colorado Deptartment of Education. You will have to google this. They have some information on alternative licensing. You hear there is a need for science teachers; I don't know how accurate that is. Good luck!

Default Teaching Jobs In Denver

Is there a demand for K-4 grade school teachers in the Denver and surrounding areas? How about bi-lingual/ESL?

THANKS!

Default Wyoming teachers

I have heard several times that Wyoming is in need of teachers. Their starting salary is a little over $40,000 per year, about $10K more than either the Ft. Collins or Loveland school district offers.

Are you talking about Cheyenne, WY?
Is that area ethnically diverse?

Uh. . .I believe the original question was about teaching jobs in Denver area. Why are we discussing Wyoming? Just curious. I am also a teacher, working part-time at the moment and hoping to move to Colorado soon. Districts I've heard great things about are: Boulder, Littleton, Cherry Creek, Douglas County and Jefferson County. The websites of each will give you salary info and some job availabilities. Hope this helps.

Talking Where to go in Denver area for teaching jobs fellow teachers, please help!

Hi,
I have already learned so much from this site, here's my situation/my specific questions about Denver. Any info will be appreciated!
I'm in my mid-twenties, a single English teacher living in Orange County, CA. I'm thinking of moving to the Denver area this summer.
First, can anyone shed some light on "good" school districts to work for?
I've looked at the Douglas Co. School district website, and of course the Denver public school district.
I currently work in Anaheim, in a district that would be considered urban. I work in a title one school, with mostly EL students. It's been great, but very challenging, and I would like to find a school district without quite so many "urban" problems. (For example, I don't want to receive threatening emails from gang members anymore, or have students pulled out of class for brining knives to school).
I have 3 years experience. Is it going to be really hard to find a job? Any suggestions? I'd like to live within reasonable distance to the city. Are the commutes hellish?
Thanks in advance!
