They surrendered to the American forces in Austria.

Interesting you edited your post, as your original post said Waffen SS only. How much have you read about WWII history?

One should consider, it's not easy to find a bunch of Waffen SS re-enactors for a battle (German and especially SS equipment and uniforms are significantly more expensive than others), so those involved may not be too picky as to the specific unit of the SS being depicted.

Well if people in the Tea Party want to take back America, I would personally suggest not wearing a Nazi SS uniform, but since it is a free country, have it. In fact, show up to work in one, I'm sure the general voting public will be behind you. I only wonder why no one has thought of this strategy before?

What's next, them doing a re-enactment of a KKK rally?

Are you sure he isn't a Democrat? I wonder if he joined all the communist, marxist, socialist and radical group at the "One Nation Working Together Rally" in DC .

Looking over the list of units on the "WWII Historical Reenactment Society" site, Waffen-SS is disproportionately over-represented as compared to Heer. People of a WWII reenactment bend appear to want to be Waffen-SS - and one can't help but wonder why.

Maybe there is more to this story.

In another case it was the haters on the left trying to give the Tea Party a bad name.

Yeah! I'm sure his aspiration in life is to be a vicious nazi killer!! I'm sure he has a mini death chamber in his basement!!

Daily Kos: A different way to make a big difference in 2010
Remember when your partys policies have a big hand in destroying the economy it's never about the issues. They refuse to discuss those failures. Business as usual.

Did you not read your own link, this was not an attempt to give the tea party a bad name but to siphon conservative votes away from the GOP, fail. Good try at deflection and hijacking of thread.

How about the civil rights fight? Turning firehoses on people demanding equal treatment, all in the name of historical accuracy.

Anyway, looking over the re-enactors' website, I can't help but find it interesting that people are tripping over their feet to be Waffen-SS, but there's all of 4 Red Army units.
