Terry Jones? How about Bobby Jindal?. Who actually (other than Bachmann) is the tea party promoting now? I gave up watching television mass media so just curious.

You wouldn't really try to convince anyone that you were an independant thinker now would you? Really???

Above all else, I'd choose Anthony Weiner (D-NY) in 2016. Even if you do not agree with his politics, you have to have respect for the fact that he is compassionate about the issues affecting Americans and that he's not self-serving like most politicians, Republican or Democrat.

And to this, I do consider myself a true Independent and am certain I will vote for Obama. Just like you see none you like, I don't either and will go with who I know right now. I have some liberal and conservative beliefs and feel I am moderate. I would have voted for McCain, who I voted for in the primaries when he ran in 2000, in 2008 if he hadn't picked Palin as his VP candidate. I didn't think that was evidence of good decision making on his part. I don't like social conservatism but I do like the traditional definition of a Republican. Unfortunately, the majority of Republicans do not fit that definition IMO and the slew of candidates on the right look and sound like a freak show to me.

We have a winner here.

If a person is truly a fiscal conservative, and truly interested in reducing spending...you 100% MUST go after both parties with equal venom. Not just one, as the Tea Partiers do. it's rare and seems very put on.

The Tea Party just seemed hijacked to me, and manipulated. I mean the heart of it. No doubt there are some very good people who believe the basic message though, just aren't aware of the strong biases built into it.

Completely agree. To me, the Tea Party is a gimmick.

Nita
Exactly. Ventura is a "truther" and Palin is not. That says a lot right there.

Yelling loudly and stomping your feet doesn't always make you right. Ask my kids. He's a media wh@re IMO.

Therein in lies the problem with the Republican Party. No moderate can will the support of the Republican base.

GOP a non-factor with their obstructionist tactics, petty, inaccurate, trite narratives, whining, clueless commentary, and failure to come up with ideas to solve problems.

We are fortunate to have Obama at the helm, and there isn't an opposition candidate who can touch him. He's here through 2016.
Wow...another misguided soul blaming the right for Obama's mistakes and poor presidency. I really can't even believe you said he's been an excellent presidency. I highly doubt you are a true independent.

As for Obama inheriting Bush created issues....this is a half truth. The financial collapse and mortgage disaster was actually set in motion by the Clinton administration. Bush was compliant with Clintons policies and the bankers by signing the bailout....he should have let AIG burn in hell along with all the other greedy bankers who were hedging the dangerous bets. Bush also put us in a war which is another source of our huge budget deficit. Now here we are in Obama's reign and he continued with the bailouts, continues with the war in Iraq and actually gets us into more wars while he's at it. So that was 3 different presidents including both parties and they are all compliant with the major issues each has either started and /or continued.

That leads me to my independent of choice...Ron Paul who is more libertarian than republican but he understands the difficulty of gaining nominations as an independent. If you are really serious about choosing the proper candidate look at their congressional voting record!!!! That is where the evidence is in whether or not a candidate is just another person paid off by the lobbyists through kickbacks and incentives.

Yeah but I remember a certain Senator from Chicago who was pretty "passionate" as well. So far, that isnt turning out well.

I think you have to look at someones politics and beliefs and views. And Weiner is far from what this country needs.
