On my third day now with red beans and rice, and finishing the rice, but with a couple days of beans left. Tomorrow, I'll stir in chili powder and a can of tomatoes, cook some macaroni, and have a few days of Chili. I cook my beans with plenty of onion, carrot and peppers.

I need to get with the beans and rice program. It seems like a staple for a lot of people. Could someone tell me how to make it, and what you add to it? Is this Hispanic? I'm a Yankee WASP, but I'd like to make it.
