Oh, yes that was confusing....the asparagus and the rice were seperate items (as they say in New England..."side by each".

I love asparagus--to me it has all the vigor and life force of spring....delicate and fresh and lovely. (This past spring I had fiddle heads for the first time...and they have the same urgency of flavor...taste me quick....my time here isnt long.

skbs ....... do a lasagna and salad or something

We just ate eggplant parm with mozz on top for an "appetizer" and each had a bowl of turkey noodle soup. It was awesome. Now I am off to make some cupcakes for BF's sis as her birthday is tomorrow.

I think that would be a great tradition and a time to introduce some more formal dining traditions.....utensil use....please, thank you , excuse me..... napkin use.....listening to conversation....avoiding any rude comments....waiting to eat until everyone is served..asking "may I please be excused". If your family is comfortable with it....perhaps a simple grace or holding hands in a ring before beginning. Good Luck

skbs that is a fine tradition to start! My kids think I am old fashioned when I say we are eating at the dining room table~~we don't have a kitchen table. They would plop in front of the TV with a plate every night if I let them. You don't appreciate the food when you are eating in front of the TV I feel. It gives me the chance to talk about what happened at school, what they had for lunch etc while instilling manners to boot!

Nomad did you buy all those onions or that was the cart the store had them in? Hope you are done with the dentist for awhile too.
