Plus illegals have displaced Americans out of jobs they will do. The meat packing industry used to pay good wages and benefits until they began hiring illegals. Then the Americans (we are talking Americans here of all races/ethnic origins) were pushed out as the illegals took the jobs for lower pay and no benefits. Also the construction industry used to provide family sustaining wages--that industry has been severely impacted by illegal immigration. They all aren't cleaning houses and picking lettuce.

True but according to some unless we give up our jobs to illegal immigrants and stop worrying about feeding our own families we lack compassion.

No, they don't! Sans crop picking (for which there are unlimited visas) there are no jobs that Americans won't do and have always done. We have always cleaned houses, did landscaping, construction work, etc. until the greedy employers decided that Americans won't work cheap enough for them so they hired illegal immigrants instead. Even if that were true (but it isn't) that isn't justification for foreigners to break our immigration laws. If we truly had a shortage of Americans to do manual labor jobs don't you think that we would have increased our quotas for foreign workers to come here and do those jobs?

President Obama has not even mentioned amnisty unlike Reagan......... Didn't work then and won't work now.
President Obama, however, is using a common sensw approach and giving children brought here and educated here the right to work here and work towards citizenship..... this is in no way amnisty.
Now that the Right lost the Election even using their "buzz" words like Amnisty, Communism, Socialism etc etc etc they should now realise that America will no longer be influenced by their hate talk and lies.

Thats not the way to go about it & its not common sense at all.

Common sense would put more enforcement on the border, re clarify the 14th amendment, and make English the official language.

Making the law less resilient by ignoring the ones we have in place does not solve the problem.
Back when Regan initiated amnesty they said the same thing. Will we believe their lies again?

Its amnesty if they are not allowed to be deported.

What do you think Obama is talking about when he says he will pass a "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" for those here who are "living in the shadows?"

Of course Obama and the pro-illegal crowd avoid the word "amnesty" but that is what their proposed CIR actually means. There is no reform. Reform would mean changing our immigration laws. There is no such think being proposed only forgiveness of those who violated our immigration with some penalties that will never be enforced.

I disagree with the DACA that Obama implemented because it rewards the parents of these so-called kids who were brought here by them. It isn't common sense because it puts these "kids" and their newly minted work permits in direct competition for jobs against Americans.

Those "buzz" words were around long before the election and a lot of them based on truth. What hate talk and lies?

How are they doing that when they were given no legality? They are still illegals, now with only the ability to apply for work authorization, which does not grant them a legal status only an ability to work here.

You won't fix the problem without opening things up a lot more. In my opinion, if a person from Mexico or any other foreign nation wants to come here, they are only welcome here if they get and keep a job. That means a job that pays a legal and lawful wage. How else can immigration tell that they have a job at all, right?

Throwing up a wall and a quota system creates and perpetuates the problem. There is work to be had and they damn well know it. On the other side of that fence, there's a lot of money to be made. Because of the quota system and immigration laws, Hispanics and others have entered the USA illegally. Their illegal status makes them easy targets to predatory employers who want to pay less than minimum wage. If they actually had legal status here, they'd actually complain about the terrible pay because they'd know it's illegal to pay so little.

The wall stays up and the quotas stay chiseled in stone. Most of the illegals are already here and can't complain about being underpaid. Who do they complain to? They're here illegally and don't want to draw attention. Predatory employers will continue actively seeking out and hiring illegals.

Our xenophobic system is perpetuating these problems.

You do realize we have quotas for good reasons, don't you? Our quotas are based on our needs not a foreigners needs and that is the way it should be. Our obligation is to protect Americans and American jobs and benefits for Americans. There are no actual jobs that we need illegal immigrants for. There is no shortage of American workers. It is only greedy employers desiring cheaper labor that's all. Should we give up our jobs to illegal immigrants so these greedy employers can get richer? What is an American supposed to do to support his/her family?

The word xenophobic has no place in this issue. We have no fear of strangers since we already have milliions of Americans and legal immigrants residing within our borders from all ethnic groups/races and nationalities. What is ironic is that many who make that claim are of the same ethnic group that hold the highest numbers in our legal immigration quotas. Strange, huh?
