Undocumented immigration? WTH is that? Illegal immigration I am familiar with. Too many Americans are asleep at the wheel and just fighting to survive that jobs and the economy is first and foremost on their minds. Foolishly they haven't connected the dots to illegal immigration playing a major role in the lack of jobs and our bad economy. Polls don't mean much. It depends on who is polled who are the pollsters and how the questions are posed. They also vote in politicians whom they think will help create jobs and improve our economy or in some cases what party/politicians will give them handouts. None of the above gives a true picture of how most Americans view illegal immigration and it is only one of the pressing issues in our country today. If they bothered to connect those dots it would be a priority issue with most. The rest of us thinkers have bothered to get truly informed.

Sounds completely logical to me. Regardless of what is done there will be abuses and I'm sure there will be some dangerous criminals amongst their ranks.

And that would just encourage the next group of illegals in even greater numbers. This time 11 million, In 5 years 20 million, in 5 more 40 million. We can't take the whole world in

In 2013 I don't see much point to the "progressive" way since the better "liberal" attitudes from back in the day are middle of the road; IMHO progressives closer to people like the Taliban and so on instead. Sheesh!

It is against the law to welcome "illegal aliens" to our shores or borders. These so-called progressives are then essentially breaking the law as that is aiding and abetting. Why so little respect for our immigration laws and the negative impact illegal immigration has on our existing citizens? Why would anyone be ok with that? It is something I cannot even fathom being ok with. Growing one's political clout is a good reason to step on the backs of our own citizens and thumb one's nose at our immigration laws? Glad I am not one of these so-called progressives but a patriot to our country instead.

What good is a "law" if it isn't enforced?

We've had elections that have settled this.

The people who were calling for enforcement never made it into office so America has made its decision.

We aren't going to kick 20 million people out of the country. How could we?

So it is best to give them a Social Security card, driver's license and a Tax I.D. so we can get the tax revenue. A larger tax base equals larger revenue to the government to support government programs (even the ones conservatives love like the Defense Department).

I think the parents should be deported, if they can't meet the criteria of becoming a naturalized citizen. Only in America are anchor babies protected by activist judges and politicians pandering for votes. The US needs to modify the Jus soli laws, by adding a permanent resident clause; much the same as Australia, New Zealand, and most EU countries have.

Amazing that the most socialist of western countries would have such primative laws protecting their citizenship.

And what about the next 20 million, then 40 million, then 80 million. You think they are just going to stop? They will just learn from their relatives that are in the first waves.
