I am a immigrant to the US. I cannot fault the Mexican people for fleeing that hell-hole of a country. My parents fled Communism so I know first hand about the problems of living in countries that don't gave a dam about their people.
My problem is with the Mexican government for "exporting" their poor people to the US and the US government for accepting them so Mexico does not have a revolution. Enough already.
You said that 25% of the Mexican population had left Mexico to go to the US. That is simply false, and that paragraph does not support that statement.
Mexico is not a hellhole. It certainly has problems, but put any other 2nd/3rd world country in Mexico's position and the US would likely have the same issue with undocumented immigrants from that country as well.

They state that the assistance includes advice on how to get across the U.S. border illegally, where to find healthcare, enroll their children in public schools, and send money to Mexico. In 2005, the government of Yucatán produced a handbook and DVD about the risks and implications of crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. The guide told immigrants where to find health care, how to get their kids into U.S. schools, and how to send money home. Officials in Yucatán said the guide is a necessity to save lives but some American groups accused the government of encouraging illegal immigration.[39]
In 2005, the Mexican government was criticized for distributing a comic book which offers tips to illegal emigrants to the United States.[40] That comic book recommends to illegal immigrants, once they have safely crossed the border, "Don't call attention to yourself.... Avoid loud parties. ... Don't become involved in fights." The Mexican government defends the guide as an attempt to save lives. "It's kind of like illegal immigration for dummies," said the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies in Washington, Mark Krikorian. "Promoting safe illegal immigration is not the same as arguing against it". The comic book does state on its last page that the Mexican Government does not promote illegal crossing at all and only encourages visits to the US with all required documentation.[40]

It's very well known for Southern Americans to envy Mexico is the United states to Latin America most Latin American Countries are extremely poor people are diying of starvation like in Guatemala extremely violence in Honduras people in Venezuela can even buy a box of cookies because of their ridiculous government trying to be communist in Argentina for example the wealthiest region is Buenos Aires province outside the region people are living in extremely poverty.
Weather you want to accept it or not Mexico is more advanced technologically and Infrastructure and Economically than Southern America it's a FACT.
Even with our corruption problems and country problems the living standards of most of Mexico is closely similar to a first world nation such as the U.S. and Canada than Colombia Honduras Peru etc Mexico is getting filled with many illegal immigrants from Argentina Venezuela and Cuba and Centro America I was surprised on my vacation travel to Cancun!!! So many illegals from those countries residing there.
I work with many white Americans and Canadians in Puerto Vallarta a lot expats I've met from the U.S. have told they have SOLD their properties and houses in Ecuador because they didn't like the living standards because it feels like a hellhole and the reason they chose to move to Mexico because the life standards are almost similar to the U.S. and "Cheap" and close to the U.S. according to them..

This is not true
South Americans don't have the same relationship with the US that Mexicans have.
South Americans historically tend to have more links with Europe which means South Americans in general tend to look towards Europe and not towards the US which is not the case with Mexico.
It is also ridiculous to state that Mexico is sort of the United States for South Americans. I don't think anyone around the world sees Mexico as the US of anything. In South America they are perfectly familiar with the United States, let's not forget the US is a super power so just about any nation around the world is very familiar with the US.
By the way, Guatemala is not in South America, Guatemala is far more like Mexico than like any South American country.
