I read that last year, Grand Forks hired a local contractor to do all the post-flood cleanup, for the whopping sum of $65,000. Wonder how many millions it would have taken FEMA do to the same work? Methinks a return to those local boys doin' local work would do us more good and cost us a whole lot less, and we wouldn't be sittin' around watchin' the water rise while wondering who's gonna fill the sandbags!

Oh, wait, we've got ElkHunter on the shovel. Never mind, job's already done!

Oh no. You start doling out money to the locals that know best, you'll breed graft and corruption.. lining the pockets of your cousins sisters husband and all that.

We've got regulations, rules and controls to thwart that. Yessiree.. We've got certifiably contolled graft, greed and corruption

Lots of interesting water-well data:
Montana's Ground-Water Information Center 2011
Shallowest well on record in Gallatin County: 1.5 FEET.
(Bah, I could beat that, I had a dent 6 INCHES deep in my yard that was always full of water.)

Methinks they need to catch up on their drought reports, tho

Here we go again. Sand Bags are in place, Tongue River is over it's banks and it's all snow melt, not rain.

Course, Mother Nature is taking care of that, a storm rolled in about 30 minutes ago and winds are hitting almost 60. All we need is a flash flood on top of the snow melt.

EH will it ever end?
I am watching that bad weather rotate up towards us. Seems that there were tornado sirens at Billings.

Yeah, Billings had some nasty weather roll through, Hisham, Lame Deer, Coal Strip, Forsythe, etc was in jeopardy.

We got some minor flooding down here, but it's from snow melt. I didn't realize I had ocean front property. Going to have another cup of coffee and then head out and get some pictures.

This picture is looking out the front door of my cabin.

Course, I might just have another cup of coffee and bait my hook. Got worms in the fridge.
