Don't wait to notice that things are changing in your town, county or state. Get more proactive get INVOLVED. Because if you don't the folks moving in from someplace else, those with lots of money and free time, they will DEFINITELY get involved in local county and state government and then that's it, they will run things the way THEY like.

Closing time Gentlemen, everyone get out.
Problem is, them what comes in brings money, and money talks a lot louder than anything else. Doesn't matter if old-timers get shoved aside, they can't pay. I watch this happening everywhere that there's a big influx of people who have no idea what an existing town or rural area is about. You can fight it all you want but until you can bring more money to the table as they do, no one will listen to you.

Maybe we should start robbing their banks and use their own money against them!

How about folks just start accepting the fact that when $h!t becomes valuable like oil or gold, then all poor people will start being born without a$$holes !
Thank Charles Darwin ! or would that be Murphy ? Too many laws to keep track of and too many people bothering people who don't want to be not messed with .
Angry people who don't take their "happy pills" or let go of their issues just miss out on the best part of life.
These angry people need to either let it all go, or stay on their meds, or just friggin go fishing !
Life is getting shorter even faster as you get older, I suggest the "just go fishing" idea, it works best for me.
Maybe some people are "angry" because their neighbor plays music too loud ! ? Too many answers for the OPs question and this thread is getting kind of long !

I don't know much of Darwin, but Murphy and I know each other too well!!
You have a good point though, and it's not as if I walk around every day all pissed off at all the changes, but when I sit and sift through these forums I respond with what I'm thinking after reading the thread.. You are right, Life's just too short!

I am going to take your advice this weekend also and spend it fishing!

Here are some pics. View them as "slide show" or else !
Note the last link is of pics before we moved from Hot Springs to Conrad.
Another note, Our night cop goes up and down the downtown streets to check for unlocked doors. He just knocked to let us know that our door was not locked. That's why I call my new town "The Mayberry of Montana" I don't see how anyone can be angry in a place like this !

Hey great pics!

The view out your front window at the barn and horses...are they yours?
Would be very nice to look out at a view like that every day. Lucky you.

Heh heh, I like that idea... reminds me of those immortal words,
Q: Why did you rob banks?
A: Because that’s where the money was kept!
Or how about this: when you come to a new town, you only get to spend what average folks in that town spend for the same stuff. No more outbidding the locals just because you CAN.

Dang, you'd think more folks would like our sort of economics.

Yeah, but it's these long threads where we really get to know one another!

I like to play my stereo so loud that my ears bleed
My doctor says that I shouldn't tho, cuz I'll be deaf before I'm forty
But I don't care if I've got bad ears, cuz so does everyone in my flat...

Haha..
Perhaps an exchange, like when you convert money to foreign currency...

So if you move from a more expensive area with jobs that average 80-100K to a not as expensive area with jobs that average 30-50K your money isn't worth as much, and you are put on par with the locals, or vice versa.
If you move to a more expensive area with higher paying jobs from the latter, your money is worth a bit more to keep you on par with the locals in that area.
Sounds fair to me...
