Thanks Meli,
I'm waiting for a two bedroom and I'm 1100 or so on the list. The 2 bedroom waiting list is at 683 the last time I called.

What about you? Neighbors Maybe? :-)

@Adhom - Do you know if they let owners renovate?

By the way it looks like my thread was deleted, It was a was the thread where I wanted everyone to share. Any one know how I get a thread back?

Anyone know the pet policy?
I'm thinking this place might not be so safe if they have a precinct across the street PLUS their own security, and STILL have things going down. I'm gonna head down there myself when I get a chance

No dogs :-(

It's not Park Ave by any means!
But if you're a tough New Yorker it doesn't phase you. I was born and raised in New York City for me I don't let the fear take over me.

The LES isn't quite as glamorous as other neighborhoods but come on -- its lower Manhattan. As you get older, you'll definitely need to live in an elevator building.
If I was 25 - no problem (and I lived in Washington Heights at that age in the mid-80s). But now it's more like can I live in a grittier, much more active urban neighborhood after years of living in a very quiet and greener part of Brooklyn that is still close to stuff. I know though that what I have now is not going to last forever, hence why I am going for this, plus I would have a bigger apartment than the studio I live in now.

Because I feel that you shouldn't limit yourself to just one place with such a long wait.....

I believe that would be a "no", the original ad says "application is not transferable", which to me means you can't pass it on.

So the last person we have reporting in from the most recent waitlist opening, had a number "in the 300s"? Anybody gotten one from later? I'm wondering because the original ad also says they'll pick 1500 household numbers in both bedroom sizes. Either this means I should give up, or they're breaking up the 1500 apiece into partial chunks, instead of sending applications to the entire 3,000 at a time.

Hi, all:

First, thanks to everyone for all the helpful information! I'm about to send in my one-bedroom application (I got a number near 1,000), and I was wondering how strict the dog policy is at Masaryk. I ask because I have friends who live in Penn South, where no pets at all are allowed, but I hear many have dogs, and that thousands have cats as an open secret. I also happen to know someone who grew up in Masaryk, and he said plenty of people have dogs and it's no problem as long as the dogs don't cause problems. I currently have a small (28-pound) silent (the breed, basenji, doesn't bark) dog. I also understand some folks might be allowed to keep their animals if a psychologist vouches for the emotional need.
