Reminded him how the USA is right there to help whenever North Korea wants to scare them testing explosives in their nearby ocean. Still, she wouldn’t change her mind about it.

The USA may do some things the world might not like 100%, but how about the good things? Besides, it’s the people in leadership who do these decisions, not your average citizen. It’s bad that Americans are hated in most parts of the world for things they didn't do.
The Koreans would like to see us out of their country.
There are protests regularly to get us out of South Korea.

What good things are we doing there? Really?
We're protecting our interests, not theirs.

Thats kind of the "funny" American attitude that actually people elsewhere laugh at us for (not that you care of course).

A lot of Americans are also stuck with their lifestyle and its not always exactly great to basically live below poverty level for a Western "first rate" nation. A lot of Americans are stuck. You can feel pity for 3rd worlders but realize that scores of our own people have no health care, substandard education and high rates of community crime and poverty -for a so called first rate, Western nation. Life for a lot of Americans is not exactly that great.

I could speak at length about a lot of the great things I perceive about American society (the list is fairly long), but I write here mainly to counter the notion that other people in other places are stuck and Americans are not. Not true.

My thoughts on this are the same as they were clear back in 1975, 1970, 1968 and so on.

"Who Cares?"

I've a feeling that the United States has been disliked longer than both you and I have been alive .. just sayin'

This works both ways.
Many Americans have no clue about other countries, but that doesn't stop them from making judgements about other countries. It's this attitude that contributes to the "we are the best at everything" mindset.
Americans are overly sensitive about anything (and anyone) that doesn't agree with the "We're Number 1", that they feel insulted and offended.

Yes, the USA has been disliked around the world for quite a while, I can imagine. It would be a bit uncomfortable to travel around the world with that feeling. I understand why some Americans rather say the name of a city or a state and not USA when asked where they are from.

Also Americans are notorious for traveling to other countries and not respecting the culture, history and language of other people. After all why would you travel to another country where English is not the native language and get indignant that people there do not speak English.
So Americans are in good company then because this stereotype applies equally to the British, the French, the Germans, etc. In fact, the stereotype of British travelers is likely worse than the Americans because in addition to what you mentioned, they also, according to stereotype, get really drunk, puke in the swimming pool, pick a fight with the Spanish bellboy, and fall asleep on the pavement.

:-)

Oh so that is when it changed huh? They have always hated us (unless they need our boys to die to get their ass out of some crap) and they always will.

I honestly don't care. Momma didn't tell you that you can't please everyone all the time?

I love it when the people in other countries and even some misguided Americans complain about us but we are the first ones they call when they need money or military support.
