He comes up with this in an election year in which he is struggling in polling. As the church lady used to say, "how conveeeenient."
Yes, I think this is a big part of it. Anything to change the subject.

Seriously?? That's your reason?

If you're not gay yourself or have close family/friends who are gay, I fail to see why anyone would change their vote just because the candidate supports gay marriage. Why on earth would they care?

Hmm, well since this was a huge issue for the LGBT community and their supporters yesterday, perhaps he felt this was the prudent moment to voice his opinion.

I wonder how many people see what blacks did in 2010 when they voted against Obama and his people. I think that he just split the black vote and in the end will see the error of his ways. Oh well, the LBGTs were going to vote for him and now maybe he finds just how important that black vote was.

Hia biggest mistake here is that 30 or so states have voted against same sex marriage. Surely all those states will change their view in order to elect The One again.

With a razor-thin margin.

Nah, this is calculated to activate the young Democratic base - the Right-wing talking heads will be standing in line to be as offensive as possible, and a lot of otherwise laissez-faire supporters in the Democratic camp will open their wallets and start getting engaged.

It's definitely a calculated risk, but not a bad move.

(Don't answer that. They embarrass easily.)

I wonder how he gets back all that black vote he just threw away.

Eh...no.

Start with the 2008 outcome and subtract both IN and NC and Obama beats Romney 332-206.

Then subtract OH and VA and Obama beats Romney 301-237.

Then subtract FL and Obama STILL beats Romney 272-266.

Or is he just playing politics like he did with the keystone pipeline?
If he does it today it is purely politics and that pertains to any act he makes.

Yah traditional family- man woman and child are not important- Definition of what sex is not important...the very building block of society for a thousand years being tossed out the window - is not really an important issue- who cares? A candidate will support ANYTHING...to get elected...so why even use the word "support"...they don't really support anything. They are political animals who are base.
