Playing politics of course, but let's bear in mind, he's a politician.
I suspect he might have a dramatic conversion moment around the time of the convention. Think of the wall-to-wall lovefest he'll get from the media if he does! I can only hope.
Think about where that convention is being held, this year. I am sure that he thought about this before making that statement the day he did. It is purely political and has nothing to do with what he feels.
Isn't it a strange evolution, this one Obama had? In 1996 he was for gay marriage. In 2008 he claimed marriage was "between a man and a woman". Now he's for it (again).
Strange.
You know there's nothing strange about it. Obama does it to garner votes.
They all do, except Ron Paul
Obama is a wonderful speaker when he talks about hope and change.
Anyone can be really, when they mimic, being preacherisque.
He'll be preachin like it's 1969
Not so much, when Obama tries to talk concrete issues - how he
fell flat when he told folks at a black caucus:
"Take off your bedroom slippers. Put on your marching shoes.
Shake it off. Stop complainin'" ...
all the while, black unemployment is double the national average at 16-17 percent.
Obama just does not grasp our economic disaster. If a Pres is not
successful at that, well.... he can keep his change and all the
snow job pilings that go along with it...
It's an election year. I think this was his stance all along, he just recently grew a pair and admitted it.
Wouldn't that be two pair, considering the issue? His unwillingness to hold strong convictions on anything speaks volumes - we need a leader not a political panderer..
Funny how fast President Obama can evolve on Gay Marriage and can't seem to evolve on how to bring the economy around or how to become independent of Middle East oil.
He must be getting a little desperate it's starting to show...........
You statements don't square with the FACTS: (That's not unusual for a Conservative)
Oil production has gone UP every year that President Obama has been office compare to going DOWN every year every year when President George W. Bush Jr. was in office.
The United States imported about 45% of the petroleum (crude oil and petroleum products) that we consumed during 2011. Just over half of these imports came from the Western Hemisphere. Our dependence on foreign petroleum has declined since peaking in 2005.
