Ummm... if the government doesn't endorse it they're not legally married, thus they will not enjoy the same rights and benefits of a legally sanctioned marriage. Logic fail!!

Anyone who doesn't change their views on SOMETHING at some point in their life is either incredibly stubborn or close-minded IMO. Besides, wasn't Obama's 2008 slogan "Hope and change?" LOL. Furthermore, he wasn't really changing his position - just finally admitting it to the world, and was probably urged by his advisors on both sides (before and after this declaration).

Or they are true in their beliefs, nothing wrong in believing in yourself

Obama pretty much put the last nail in his own coffin.
The relgious leaders of this country are out of lay with lay people on this issue.

Most Say Homosexuality Should Be Accepted By Society - Pew Research Center

Quote:
Among religious groups, substantial majorities of the religiously unaffiliated (79%), white Catholics (66%) and white mainline Protestants (65%) say that homosexuality should be accepted. However, just 29% of white evangelical Protestants agree, while more than twice as many (63%) say homosexuality should be discouraged by society.

A new elite has formed- those that are called the left are actually the extreme right- It's a new type of fascism. America has kicked into high mental gear for this election...and they have figured out that this debauched elite...who through Hollywood generate more gun violence - more twisted sexuality...and more parasitic jerks who contribute nothing to stability and real wealth creation...Obama is over- the game is up...There has been a very rapid mass awakening in the people- AND they will refuse to be debased any further...Those who need money- who deserve a better life are disregarded - those who make things worse and make millions doing it - are on their way out-

They do not know it yet- but the gay marriage issue and the pushing of it has caused people to ask a few questions like - WHY? how...and who...? This matter has moved the questioning American mind to action....Good bye Obama- good buy Hollywood coke sniffing perverse elite - and hello reality and truth..

The polarity is about to shift in the blink of an eye- trust me on this one- I am a watcher.

If you never question yourself at any point in life, I will say again that's a sign of extreme stubbornness - or you're just a very arrogant person, who mistakenly believes you are perfect (which nobody is). There are some personal beliefs I expect not to change much, if at all, but even those should be evaluated through self-analysis from time to time. Are you saying your views on everything about the world and life haven't budged since childhood?

As I said earlier in the thread, even my incredibly hard-headed 95yo grandmother has altered some of her views (mostly regarding other races & religions) in recent years. So if a woman her age can shift perspective, the rest of us can too.

Most Say Homosexuality Should Be Accepted By Society - Pew Research Center

Quote:
Opposition to gay marriage has fallen by 19 points (from 65%) since 1996. (For more on changing public views of same-sex marriage, see Pew Research Center reports from March 3, 2011 and Oct. 6, 2010.)
Societies move FORWARD.

Of course the very definition of a Conservative is:

A PERSON WITH TWO GOOD LEGS THAT CAN'T MOVE FORWARD.

But that's O.K. the rest of the country is going to carry you into the 21st century no matter how much you kick and scream.

Older Democrats who had bigoted attitudes but who voted Dem for every other office.

They voted against 8 and they voted to reelect Waxman. That should say more about the bent of the area than who they vote for in the presidential election.

That western part of Beverly Hills isn't the part that has the most Persians. It's southern Beverly Hills, not west-central Beverly Hills, which has the most Persians, although there are Persians living in the area between Santa Monica Boulevard and Lomitas.

West Side Republicans tend to be Schwarzenegger type moderates, with some libertarians. (I use West Side to define a region including the independent cities of Beverly Hills, Culver City, and Santa Monica, and usually also including West Hollywood, as well as areas within the city of L.A. and unincorporated areas) The GOP candidates for local office are often gay attorneys recruited by Log Cabin Republicans, who run for office so they can have on their resume that they were major party political candidates. In fact Republican activists in the west side of L.A. complain that the party needs to be more pro-gay than the Democrats. Generally, wealthy and educated people regardless of race or party affiliation voted against 8. And yes, there were definitely people who voted for McCain and against 8.

Obama is, of course, lying about letting the states decide this issue of gay marriage, just like he was lying about being personally opposed to gay marriage before. After the election, he will "evolve" on that issue as well and be in favor of a national policy supporting federal imposition of gay marriage on all 50 states, whether they want it or not.
More importantly, he will appoint supreme court justices who will declare gay marriage a right. As it is now he probably only needs one more supreme court justice to get that result.

Kind of like another president federally imposed the abolishment of slavery on the entire country whether people wanted it or not?
