I know people that lied about their heritage just to get scholarships. Honor doesn't mean much anymore.

Scholarships are not always from taxpayer funds, so if some private sorce wanted to pay they have a right to.
Would be classy if Diddy did return the money or start a scholarship himself. He was not needy for the money, but did nothing wrong.

Did Peyton and Eli get full rides to pay college football or did Archie pay out of pocket for them?

It's also likely that UCLA's football team more than covers their own expenses, thus- general tuition fund money or 'taxpayer' money is not part of that pool.

The young man earned it, let him take it with both hands and say 'thank you'. You'd do the same thing.

What constitutes... 'If he earned it'? Would Daddy Diddy's donations constitute 'earned' should the school deem it so? So there will be one kid out there who won't go to college because some rich kid - or his benefactor - couldn't see the benefit of paying his own way. At least I hope the less fortunate doesn't buy the guy's music.

Scholarships come from what other folks pay for tuition. I remember reading a story last year that at the Univ of Iowa something like 20% folks pay for tuition for their kids to go to school is used for scholarships and grants. So you area already paying for others to attend.

It's not a zero sum game. The scholarships are for the football program. So even if he gives up the scholarship the funds don't go back to some general pool. He's not taking anyone's spot.

Time came to go to college and my neighbors who spent every dime were getting college aid while we didn't.

Sorry folks, my kid is likely to get nearly a full academic ride to college despite having 75k or so set aside for college. Anyone suggesting that we just pass that up because we "can afford it" I have some sign language for ya.
I'm pretty sure this thread isn't about you.

Of course the kid shouldn't give it back. He earned it and I would a whole lot rather see the kid earn it than have daddy pay for everything.

And yes, diddy is a talentless racist. His claim to fame was shooting someone whilst in the company of JLo.

And, of course, his ridiculous name change.

If it were my son and I had even half of PDiddies means I would start my own scholarship fund for the school.

If the kid earned it good for him.
