The primary purpose of keeping and bearing arms is for self-defense against criminals and a tyrannical government.
You tell me which gun is not for serving that purpose.
That's the difference. I'm not paranoid that the government is coming to get me. And I have 240 years of history to back that up.
Once again, show me the instances of people who aren't David Koresh and that ilk who have so many people coming after them that they need something that can shoot dozens of rounds in a scant amount of time.

Neither am I paranoid; however, history has taught me a very different lesson.
Also I must ask wasn't that, self-defense against a tyrannical government, the original intent of the 2nd Amendment?
Even at defense against criminals level, wouldn't an automatic M16 come in handy when facing looters?
Not certainly. That is exactly what the Founders intended so we could defend Liberty from all who would trespass.
They have no clue at the time of the composing of the Constitution, that there would not be a standing ARMY. The people were the army and the peoples arms were used. Government then, nor today have any authority to have government arms(police force). We did not give them that power, after fighting a government for our liberties. One of which the British wanted the colonies to disarm.
Since we did not give them that power, it was reserved for the states, or the people(militia) to be the armies.
Before the civil war, it was all State Militia. The State Militias were rounded up to fight the civil war. There was not massive standing armies.
