So maybe taking a knee during the anthem is the appropriate thing to do, it shows you are still patriotic and proud of the principles the US was founded on, but not the current form of Govt we have right now.
I'm not sure how you arrived to conclusion that honoring a long standing tradition of standing for the national anthem at ball games is blindly obeying a tyrannical government. Would you please elaborate on what is cruel and oppressive about, if I may take from Easterman's post, a ritual of social cohesion and a constant reminder of the American principles.

Which had nothing to do with forced patriotism. He was making a political statement of his own agenda during the singing of the national anthem. People have been fired and worse for stating their political agenda on their own FB page.

Very funny because if you read many of these posts it's just what many of the rightie posters would like to have.
Who are the real totalitarians??? Not the progressives.

An issue that has nothing to do with the NFL or a ball game. An issue that has been brought to light by many others.
Would you feel it appropriate if all the women employed by the NFL and stadium adorned their pink poo tang hats and protested whatever issue it is they have during the game?

If patriotism is measured by singing the Star Spangled Banner, why not at every event? Why not at the start of every movie, every musical performance, ...

Also, why aren't we reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at every ball game, every school play, etc. ?

What good is our so called patriotism when poor people and minorities are discriminated and oppressed with hurtful policies? Love for country starts with love for all people.
As is the history and present of every other country since the beginning of history.
Wars waged to conquer, inhabitants enslaved, corruption, discrimination, oppression, poverty.
No civilization ever has been free of these things and loved all its people equally because it is not our nature to do so.

Coming from a military background, that is what happens. Go to a movie on a military base, you stand for the anthem. Every event starts with that.

It is not a measure of patriotism. It is one gesture that became a tradition to engage in at ball games. It is also designated for other particular events. Its pretty easy to do a little reading and educate yourself on the matter.

What posts say that you should be forced to stand and sing? Many have given their opinion if you don't but no one on here is suggesting that you be FORCED to do it. Let's not go crazy here.

OK with me. Give me a comp ticket to the game and I'll wear one with them.
