Good points.

How about a white sheet.
I didnt ask if you would wear a ***** hat if someone paid you, I asked if you find it appropriate to protest at ball games or other events where people have paid to attend for purposes other than being subjected to protests.

So maybe taking a knee during the anthem is the appropriate thing to do, it shows you are still patriotic and proud of the principles the US was founded on, but not the current form of Govt we have right now.
Wow, you really need to travel. America has it so good that people kiss this ground when they get here.

Not if you understand why it came to be a tradition at ball games and certain events.

Playing the national anthem at sporting events serves no useful purpose and it should be eliminated. What is does allow is lots of ritualistic jingoism to be shown off in public. You can see it in some of these posts, the anthem gives certain people a chance to pound their chests like nationalistic silverbacks.

And lets face the facts, the Star Spangled Banner sucks. It is a horrible song and should have been replaced long ago with something else. The contrast is stark during an event like the Olympics, other countries have anthems that are amazing pieces of music and works of art, the Star Spangled Banner is nothing more than a crude, artless drinking song more suited for a group of drunks at a bar than an official representation of our nation.

Well it used to be played at movie theaters and still is on military base theaters. I recall when TV stations signed off for the night and played it.

As for why it is not played at other events, the major sporting leagues decided to play it. It was not government diktat.

As for the Pledge, you would very surprised how many Unions, Lodges, County meetings and hearings, Rotary clubs, etc do indeed recite it. Not to mention the Boy Scouts.

Of course, nobody says you yourself have to do it at any of these events.

And I said OK WITH ME.

If someone wants to wear a white sheet, go for it.

Me too and I'm pretty sure few stood up unless it was to turn off the television and head to bed.

Agreed on all points. Replacing good old dancing songs with America the Beautiful in the 7th inning stretch was ridiculous. People go to games to be entertained not some obligatory rituals they learned in elementary school.
