Seems to me to be a simple decision. Move to Vermont. Don't attempt to change California. Seems crude, but my point is, you do have options. The voters have already spoken on the issue. If you want to press further, press to expand the allowances of a civil union to mirror Vermont. That has a stronger likelihood of getting passed than trying to submit drastic change. "over 1,000 laws" need not be changed - do a simple amendment to the civil union law, just like Vermont has done. Hell, they can copy and paste it for all I care.
Hmmm....so all the gays should just move to Vermont?
Hmmm.........
If Vermont gives you the benefits that you want, then yes, you move to Vermont. That is what this country was founded upon... 50 different states, with 50 different benefits, each giving their own citizens rights that each state supports.

Funny how heterosexuals can have their pick of any of the 50 states and have equality in each and every one of them but the gays and lesbians have only a few states to choose from.
Eh....one day equality will be in all 50 states. I can't wait.

I agree with you. Wy do straights get all the rights and then they abuse them, yet limit us to rights that they want us to have. That is tyranny of the majority. One day, equal rights for the LGBTQ people will be accepted and universal, then everyone will be asking what all the fuss was about, since granting us the same rights that we pay for with our hard earned tax dollars that we pay, is so simple. Just give us the same rights that you take for granted every day of your straight lives. We are US citizens and people too, we pay our taxes, struggle to make ends meet, live, love and die as you do. Why only give us limited rights when you get the full set. Separate is never equal and only causes dissent.
So? The Mormon Church is allowed to.. unless you now want to limit someones right to give their own money away to causes they feel worth while..
The Mormon Church violates its tax exempt status by crossing the boundary into politics, in this case attempting to violate the civil rights of other citizens of this country.
Yeah, because the divorce rate among straight couples is 10%. Are you posting this stuff with a straight face?
Actually, the divorce rate amongs gays in Europe is much lower than with straights. Gays also have much lower rates of domestic violence. Also, they don't breed children they later regret having the way straight do, and when a divorce results, the children are left without a father, often living a substandard life economically.
