I strongly suggest you may want to take a step back & think about this one. This is by no means frivolous to those people who wish to get married, JUST LIKE YOU are able to do.
You're effectively admitting that it's a matter of terminology. You want to say "We're married!!" Guess what? You don't have the right. Nor should you.

You DO, however, have the right to claim the fact that you are in a civil union and/or domestic partnership with your significant other who happens to be the same gender as you. My point: if the civil union and/or domestic partnership affords you the same rights and privileges as marriage does for heterosexuals, what's the problem? I don't want to hear "but it doesn't!!!" Because I debunked that earlier. I don't want to hear "but it doesn't in my state!!!" That's debunked by your choice to move. I don't want to hear any excuses. I'm waiting for someone, homosexual or otherwise to answer the simple question with a simple, direct answer and not a smartass one.

If the civil union and/or domestic partnership affords you the same rights and privileges as marriage does for heterosexuals, what's the problem?

If you cannot point to at least one factor, your arguments hold no basis and you won't get anywhere.

If a state passed a law that I cannot have a convertible anymore, guess what? I'd move to a state that does. Not yell and whine that I cannot take advantage of this optional thing in my life (and yes, civil union/domestic partnership/marriage is an option, not a right). People have been doing it for years.

Do you think that homosexuality is new? It isn't. It's been around for decades. So why now all of a sudden people want to try and change marriage to suit their selfish needs is quite frankly beyond me. It'd be like rewriting the Declaration of Independence because we all of a sudden want to enslave illegal immigrants. I swear, some people just don't get it.

Such lawsuits ARE frivolous, because your voter peers already ruled against it; a judge upheld it. LET. IT. GO.

No, I'm sorry, but the process will continue. It's not over just because you want it to be over.

What a crock. "It's a waste of taxpayer dollars." Same-sex marriages generate millions of dollars in revenue. If you want to help get your fiscal situation in order, legalize same-sex marriage.

I hope your indignation also applies to those who continue to try to overturn Roe v. Wade. Here - let me help you:

That's true. Same sex marriages do generate a lot of net income.

It also would mean less people would leave the state. But they're gay so who cares!

I guess you better call Ted Olson and David Boies and tell them that they need to drop their case in favor of same-sex couples who want to get married because it makes you mad.

Even if there aren't any more lawsuits, I hope you won't get upset by the possibility that same-sex marriage may be on the ballot again in California in 2010 - or does democracy bother you?

Yes. He's become a laughingstock even among Republicans on this forum - and that's saying a lot!

Yeah, it makes no sense. So gay marriage will hurt small business, but straight marriage won't? Where does his logic come from?

It's funny. Same-sex marriages would never represent more than about 5% of total marriages; the other 95% already do and would continue to cause the vast majority of these "harships" for small businesses. His logic is flawed...to say the least.

Some of you have your priorities twisted. First you liken this terminology war to slavery and segregation - WAYYY outta whack. Now you're telling me that ending a life is analogous to two gay people who want the right to call themselves "married" instead of taking advantage of what the state has given them. One has to do with ending a life; the other does not.

Get your priorities straight. Please.
