Oh man oh man, I just can not WAIT until you people who against gay marriage get your civil rights stomped on. Oh wait, like take away your precious guns. Boohoo!
Gay marriage is not a civil right. A gay man or woman is free to marry a person of the opposite sex, the same as any heterosexual.
Can anyone name anyone else as a group that is also denied their equal rights other that gays?
Yes.
Man+Animal.
Man+Object.
Brother+Sister.
Now you may clamor that its not the same thing, but to millions, gay marriage is a kin to the types of relationships I mentioned above.
Society has a right to draw a line based on its collective moral compass and say no. Its perfectly legitimate for the majority to say you cannot get married because we feel it threatens to undermine the original intent of marriage.
Now, I personally think that we should ban marriages from civil laws completely and make all couples(gay or straight) enter into civil unions with 100% equal protection and benefits under the law.
Then if anyone wants to actually marry, they can go to a church that will do that.

LOL, oh you poor thing. As someone else mentioned in response, "marriage is not a right in the constitution". Well well well....let me ask you something, how would you feel if you as a heterosexual were denied the ability to get married? After all, it's not in the constitution, correct? Therefore, none of you should be getting married. Would you cry, cower in a corner, stand up & fight to be allowed to marry? A simple answer will suffice.

nope. marriage is man made. I have destroyed your theory. next.
That is a laughable comparison and rather pathetic.

Yes, and unfortunately, this is what many fail to understand. The vast majority of our laws are based on the morality of the majority of either citizens or legislators. That's the way it always will be. The morality itself may change over time, but the concept will not.

I support civil unions for same-sex couples with all benefits of marriage, but retaining the marriage status for opposite-sex couples. I'm not adamantly against same-sex marriage though. Either way, this is what I would support in my state. This is a 10th Amendment issue and each state needs to do what it wants.
Regardless, neither marriage nor civil unions are a right for anyone (at least not under the United States Constitution). Loving v. Virginia, dealing with interracial marriage, was completely different from a challenge to a ban on same-sex marriage. It was based on the Equal Protection Clause rather than a fundamental right to marry; the EPC applies to race and sex differently and is silent on sexual orientation.
Also, the citizens of each state do have the right to work to either expand or deny rights using the processes legally permitted in their state.
You all don't have to like it, but it is what it is. And, yes, the 2nd Amendment still exists for those of you who compared this to gun rights.

Uh, and? So it's man-made, your point? And what was my theory? I didn't even know I was proclaiming a theory in my post but I'm anxious to hear what it was!

the point is, I crushed your argument. there is no further reason for you to post on this thread. go to another.
After stating time and time again that judges should make the final call, proponents of Gay marriage in CA are now adamant about letting the voters decide.
Even though we've already done that twice.
i wonder if perez hilton's head has exploded yet
