Tomorrow may be the last day of good weather to finish up the yard work. I now have a little bird bath--hope I get some birds other than the brown things I always get here. Not like my former backyard with all the trees that invited woodpeckers and cardinals.
Agree on impossible to find towels and sheets of any quality. Also I do NOT want huge bath sheet size, I want the old sized towels. The huge ones take up too much room in the washer or the dryer (which I hardly use) and are heavy to hang on the line, take up too much room on the bathroom rack, take up a lot of room even when folded up. Yes, I HATE the super sized towels of today.
You're lucky. We are covered in snow. We may have a reprieve later in the week, I'm not holding my breath, but as of now whatever is undone remains that way until spring.
OMG Zug, MOWING??? Holy cow, our grass has been dormant for over a month. Yeah, the front could have used a shave but it will be there next spring.
Did I mention that I'd been ignoring it for too long and it was absolutely necessary that I get it done now? Filled the 10 CF double wheel barrow 3 times with just what I'd raked in the front yard. The two inches of snow that we got on Nov. 1 did not cause it to go dormant and then we got some nice warm weather so up it shot.
I can't believe that my first 5 years here I did it with an 18" walk behind and now it seems like a lot of work with a ride on with a 42" deck.
During my 30+ years in Oakland my houses were on teeny, tiny lots (tenth of an acre or less) and there was always some kid with a push reel mower who could do it in 20 minutes for a couple of bucks so I never even owned a lawn mower until I retired. Now I've got a couple of acres of "lawn" to keep mowed around the house and then the 17 -18 acres of pasture should get done a couple of times a year with the 60" rough cut, tow behind mower, to deal with the stuff that the horses don't keep trimmed.
We've hit the dry season, so mowing is slowing down to every 2-3 weeks.
We bought a kayak last week and are waiting for the rack boots to come in that fit my car roof and will take it home and then out this weekend on the intercoastal. It's a Hobie tandem and has Mirage drives; you pedal it and underneath it looks like penguin flippers for propulsion. There are kayak paddles too that come with it and an optional sailing kit. We've held out long enough, there is nothing better than being on the water, at least for us.

I was wondering about Umbria and Robyn myself. As for Lenora, she has already posted four times in the month of November, including once in Retirement.
And where's Curmudgeon? He hasn't posted since October 19. Hope everything is OK.
