I'm glad to see this post. I've lived here 7 months and I've yet to find any friends. Sometimes I wonder why bother. I work 14 hours a day-6 days a week, all my money goes to bills so I don't have funds to go have fun with others. Does anyone actually stay inside and just hang out and have some laughs? I'm mostly just tired from the week of work and cleaning up/laundry on my day off...sitting around relaxing with people would actually be nice.

How old are you and what type of Asians are you looking for? If you're youngish then there are lots of coffee and tea shops in Clairemont Mesa which have a mostly Asia clientele.

I take it the poster meant the shops on Convoy Street (south of 52). There are various restaurants and some places to drink there.

Drive down Convoy and just stop in at one of the many cafes or bars. The whole place is pretty much the center of youngish Asian culture in San Diego especially on a Friday or Saturday night.

I've lived in 3-4 larger metropolitan areas, and I'd say San Diego is probably the least 'user friendly' of all of them.

It's not that people are not friendly here, it's just that they do not go out of the way to be friendly and make you feel comfortable.

Perhaps this is somehow linked to the fact that there are so many different cultures/transplants that occupy the city.

Not sure. Taking a community college class, or maybe joining an organized sport may be a few options?

Having kids involved in activities is how I meet new people, but that does not help you. Do any of your married friends get involved in non work related activities? Perhaps that is another option?
