It just occurred to me that maybe if people in the area stopped the California bashing TJ's would be more apt to come!?! lol. Just a thought I had after reading some of the other threads... :~) D

We all know that there is a huge market for one here, we just have to let them know. Here's a link! Just click on the drop down box and choose "Location requests". C'mon people!! Let's make it happen. Forward this to fellow Spokanites and let our voices be heard!!!

Hey all,

I'm not familiar with Trader Joe's, but downtown will soon have a food market in the form of the Main Market Co-op. I really hope you all will support it. These are the types of businesses that keep jobs and wealth in the community instead of sending it to corporate hq! But, if TJ will improve our overall offerings, I'm all for it.

Basics, organic, and gourmet at a good price(the gourmet varies with the season). I was surprised how small our local store was when it first opened. I think there are only 5 aisle with the refridgerator sections on two walls. Maybe 1200-1500 square feet??? It's always busy with the 4 checkout lines usually open. It's always fun to see what kind of new goodies they've managed to fit in. :~) D

There's a boatload of grocery stores which sell relatively inexpensive "healthy" foods - if you're not looking at processed foods.

You can find organics anywhere and a multitude of stores will have various items on sale. As far as processed organic foods and bulk items, there are great deals and coupons to be had at Yoke's, Fred Meyer and Winco to name a few.

I'm not a one-stop shopper, so I have shopping "routes" I make for the weekly grocery shopping which maximizes the number of trips I can make in a relatively circular route, cherry-picking all the best deals from each store. It's convenient that most of the groceries are clustered together. This type of shopping is less amenable to those on foot or bus though.

I've never understood the appeal of Trader Joes for individuals who actually cook. Their seafood is often frozen in vac-sealed blocks. Their meats and produce are expensive. The only appeal are all the processed goods they sell with snappy marketing and packaging. IMHO. Although I know the fans are innumerable for this chain.

I'd rather see a Super H-Mart, Ranch 99 or even Uwajimaya... although that'll happen in Spokane when pigs fly.

That rumor was flying over ten years ago-don't hold your breath-TJ's is not all that interested in expanding IMO-there is not a single one in the whole state of CO-which has the ideal deomographic

Yah that TJs rumor pops up once every so years. Not gonna happen I think.
But who needs it? Huckleberries and the Main Market co-op are great.
