I really hope that Damian Ulatowski becomes the next Clay Town Supervisor. From what I know about him, he'll be a progressive leader that isn't afraid of development or change.
I’m somewhat glad Jim Rowley is leaving. Under his leadership, the Town of Clay didn't approve very many projects. Most proposals are in limbo or are stalled waiting on studies.

Just something that has been on my mind for a awhile....
The site of the cancelled Walmart...northeast corner of Route 31 and Route 57...would make a great location for a Lifestyle Center project IMO. If only the nation's economy was in better shape....
Anyone know if the Town of Clay approved that upscale apartment complex proposed by an Albany developer on Route 31 next to Kohl's yet? That project has been in limbo for over 3 years. It would be nice if this development was up and occupied in time for the 2010 census...could be a nice boost to Clay's population and thus our taxes.
In my sub-division, the streets are all named in a nautical theme. My favorite one is Safe Harbor drive. I can't drive past that street without thinking about Safe Harbor provisions in a 401(k) plan (a hazard of my job). Another one in my neighborhood is Treasure Cove, which I think is rather cheesy.
But the real cheesy award goes to a nearby subdivision with Camelot inspired names. My favorites from there are:
Sir Gawain Ln
Sir Lancelot Blvd.
King Arthur Blvd.
Lady of the Lake Blvd.
Magic Mantle Dr. (this always reminds me of the Magic Kingdom)
Lady Carol Dr. (I don't imagine a lot of women named Carol in those days)
Damsel Ginger Ln (Ditto my comment on "Lady Carol")
and there are others....

If you are wondering why I'm posting so many photos of Clay...here's why. I want people to know that the northern suburbs of Syracuse does indeed have many nice, attractive neighborhoods. Everyone always assumes you need to live in the western or eastern suburbs to find a great place to live in the Syracuse area. I'm trying to show that the northern suburbs are a vast area with many, many great places to live too.
That is true. There are many nice neighborhoods in the Northern suburbs. Heck, there are actually some nice neighborhoods in the towns South of Syracuse too. To be honest, the Syracuse area doesn't really have too many "bad" neighborhoods.
Maybe I mentioned this before, but did you know that if we could increase the population of Clay by 16,000 which would bring it to 75,000+....than the Town of Clay would probably be the safest town/city in the country....since the crime statistics are better than both Amherst and Colonie (both in the top 10 safest list). Too bad the Syracuse area isn't growing fast enough to warrant such growth in the northern burbs.
