Here's another possibility regarding the use of the cricket bat ...
What if Pistorious grabbed the cricket bat first, and chased Steenkamp with it, and she then ran into the bathroom to get away from him?
That would explain why the neighbor heard a woman screaming before the gunshots.
Then after she was inside the bathroom, he started hitting the bathroom door with the cricket bat to scare her?
Then perhaps they argued back and forth through the closed door, and something was said that got him really angry, so he got his gun and fired at the closed door?
The above may be the actual reason he used the cricket bat on the door, and not the reason he claimed (to break the door down after he shot her)?

You and I were thinking the exact same thing at the same time.
So this morning it came out that they found small areas of blood on the bedroom wall and on the comforter. I'm not sure whose blood, but it's leading to speculation that the violence began in the bedroom and she ran into the bathroom to escape..
Right, and I'm waiting for the prosecution or someone to point out the significance of the blood spatter evidence. She obviously must have screamed after the first bullet hit her, so there is no reason in the world for him to fire 3 more bullets, or for him to not be aware he was firing at her.
