Jim, my understanding is Switchback is only available on tap, at least my friend with a pizza joint can only get it on tap and not bottled. Not sure I have ever seen bottles.
Agree on the Stovepipe......when someone gives me an Otter Creek sampler the porters are gone first (by me) then the Copper Ale, then the IPA to my wife and then the Black whatever it is goes in a stew or something or lingers.......it's not bad, it's just not liked at our place.
Despite what everyone says, we like the Trout Rainbow Red in a growler and the Barleywine.
Hahah I had to google switchback for this, and if you look through these you can see Vermonters (ok not all Vermonters) really like their beer. Check out all the home keg setups!
Anyone try anything from Hill Famrstead Brewery in the NEK? Relatively new, only on tap but they are pretty well distributed in the Burlington area etc.
We were thinking of taking a trip over in the summer to check them out, always looking for somewhere new to pick something up from.
As for the Trout Barleywine.......I give it a B, not awesome, but not bad. Jim, I agree with your "on tap" thoughts on TR.......growler from the brewery or on tap.....those are better for us.
But again, I've been stuck on the BBC Drayman's Porter lately....
The same bar that had the Vermont Beer & Cheese festival down here in NYC last month had a Hill Farmstead DAY last weekend...they brought down about 8 different beers...it started at 1pm last Sunday. We didn't even bother attempting to go after our experience at the Beer & Cheese festival...we had the Foster (the black Rye) a few weeks ago up in Waterbury and loved it...

The only places outside of VT that you can get his beer are a couple bars (maybe just 1) in NYC and some in Philly (I think, might just be NYC).
Also, he bottles some of his beers, and you can buy those at the brewery as well. It's worth the trek. Love his beer. I don't think I can visit VT without a stop there.
