I also heard that they will be building a series of restaurants diagonally across from Tanger in the area known as Harborview (where the plateau sign is/was). No timeline on when that will break ground but I assume that it will be in time to correspond with the opening of MGM to take advantage of the uptick in visitors.
Good stuff... thanks for the news.

They need a philly cheesesteak place down there now.

No problem and that sounds like a good idea. You should send their community relations person an email suggesting that.

This is good news. It's nice that Tanger will have a small business eatery option instead of just the typical food options you tend to see at some of their other malls. And I'm really intrigued that there's going to be something akin to a restaurant row right next to MGM and Tanger. Things are really looking up for the National Harbor area!!

I do hope they are not separated by parking lots like at a few town centers. I hope they are either in a walkable row, or all facing a nice plaza where people can sit on benches and chat, etc. It would also be nice if along the plaza there could be outdoor seating. There's a place like that in Cape May, NJ and also Savannah, GA.

Interesting. I am not too sure CakeLove will like hearing that, but I think that particular location is subpar compared to their U Street location, so maybe the competition will bring out the best of both. I think it would probably be a good idea, if they haven't thought about this already, to build a walkway (similar to PG Plaza) to Harborview to encourage people to walk over there.

Yeah I agree. Although it will be more of a dessert shop I think it will do well. I am really interested in seing the restaurant row will have. That location would be perfect for Tanger MGM and rush hour traffic. Definitely a goldmine for anyone situated there

It will be interesting how it is configured. The property faces OHR so Tanger patrons would have to cross OHR.

The good news for them is that they are 2 miles apart. The bad news is parking would be free in that area which would cater to those who will buy on an impulse. I agree about the walkway over OHR. That will definitely be needed as pedestrian traffic increase over there. I think I will shoot that idea over to our council representative.

As Cirque du Soleil celebrates its 30th anniversary, it has had to relocate during its visit to the D.C. area. Since MGM is building a casino on the site that usually hosts Cirque du Soleil, the company is making its debut at a new site at National Harbor. Franck Hanselman, company manager for Cirque du Soleil's show Amaluna, tells us about some of the features of the show and challenges in the summer market
