I spent $5,000 on our engagement ring, which was about 6 weeks salary for me at the time. If I had to do it again, I'd get a ring from Nexus Diamonds for less then $1,000 and never tell her they are imitation diamonds.
Gotta love deceit!!! What a wonderful way to celebrate your commitment.
How much did or would you spend on an engagement ring? Would you subscribe to the industry's propaganda about 3 months salary? How would you feel about someone who insisted on an expensive ($10k+) ring? Would it be a dealbreaker for you if someone placed a huge importance on the value of the ring that you give them? I would imagine that a woman who truly loved you would be happy no matter what you gave them - even if it was a cheap cubic zirc ring...
You know may be this is just me but when I love someone I just naturaly want to give them the best.
I think about my grandparents. Simple wedding bands and married until they died. True love can't be measured by the price of a piece of jewelry. A one-of-a-kind engagement ring (no diamond, but a colored stone) with a design that says ME would be really cool. Same thing with the wedding band. Whatever you do, don't break your bank to do it. That's just the beginning of potential financial troubles down the road.
My wife has a 2.5 ct princess cut diamond ring.... unfortunately, she made me promise to upgrade it to a 3 carat cushion cut diamond ring... and being the fool that I am, I did promise her that... once things get more settled, I'll surprise her one day... along with her brand new jaguar...
You want buy her a car or a large cat?
And I can't tell if your post is serious or sarcasm?
My dad spent upwards of $20K on the one for my mom. I, however, probably wouldn't even spend half that.
