Let's ask Merriam-Webster.

Of what use is a DL? We don't do checkpoints anymore and we give them to people with no history of anything (illegals). Nothing keeps people from driving. All a DL does is compel us to make insurance companies wealthy. If you don't break any laws a DL is useless because you won't be pulled over. Worst case is you get hit but most leave the scene anyway. I see daily people that suck at driving.

except for one little thing, the only felons who can't vote in California are those who are in prison or currently on parole.

How has lack of a driver's license ever kept anyone from driving? And I've never seen a "driver's license checkpoint", when did they have those? If you are talking about DUI checkpoints they still have those. Here's a list of recent ones: Recent California DUI Checkpoints - July 2019 / Recent CA DWI Checkpoints - Page 1

Wow, you are naive. Martial arts makes you 'not defenseless' LOLOL. I got news for you. Your blue belt in Karate from the local kiddy karate school ain't gonna do nothing for you anywhere, leave along Oaktown and south central. Not saying you should break the law and carry a weapon, but please don't delude yourself. Everywhere you are basically defenseless unless you are MMA amateur fighter or better status trained. You clearly haven't had a street fight/encounter or done real combat sports.

And, NO, violence is not only between gangs, that is totally ridiculous. People are held up and shot all the time in the world. You wish it was between gangs. I myself nearly got blasted by a car full of bangers in LA years ago on city streets.

Not exactly. That bit of nonsense came from the perpetually confused Kelly Ayotte and was later reported by the NRA's girl Dana Loesch. Here you go:

As was just proved in Gilroy yesterday, gun control does not work. In fact, all it does is provide a more secure environment for the mass killer to commit their mayhem plans. Everyone is a target. The only reason the killer was stopped was because an armed person, in this case an LEO, was at the right spot at the right time. However, you can't put a cop everywhere.

You can choose to walk around completely defenseless Neutrino, but know that unlike Keanu Reeves, you aren't going to be able to slow down time and dodge bullets with your 'martial arts'. You will not have the option to stop an active shooter incident, only be an unwilling victim or escape the situation if possible.

The facts are quite clear and unfortunate. Gun Control only makes liberals feel safer, but in reality only makes life more difficult for the very citizens that are of the least danger. The bad actor will easily find a way to get armed, or if they can't, then they will turn something into a weapon, yes even a car/truck (as has been amply demonstrated even here in the USA).

We got far bigger problems with society that gun control will be futile and even harmful in dealing with. But go ahead, keep adding more and more gun control until you definitively prove that it does NOT stop violence.

The dragnets, aka check points were for both DUI and those without a license.

Those numbers will be all over the place but bottom line is we rarely prosecute anyone denied.

Plus, they can go back in and legally buy a 80% kit and finish it in one hour.

Attorney’s Offices (USAO) had prosecuted 12 of these cases as of June 2018.

Politifact is credible only to the audience that wants to hear the progress worldview confirmed.
Look at their backers and associations. We need a real independent fact checker -- Politifact ain't it.
