So how much snow has fallen? I hope you are warm and cozy until the storm is over.
I live in Florida now, but grew up in central Illinois. I always liked the first big snowfall of the year, but after that I was totally over it. I hope I never have to live in a cold climate again

Not that much. It's more the cold than the snow. In the 20's.
If I wouldn't have had to have the operation this would have been great, traveling and Arizona in the cold months, Minnesota in the warm. I just had to stay too long this year.
It's 29° now supposed to get up to 41 Tuesday, then turn colder. The plan is still to leave Tuesday.
I remember when i was a kid living in Milwaukee, WI. Sometimes the snow would get about 5' deep. We loved playing in the snow & building forts. The cold didn't bother us when we were kids.
They sprayed water on an area of the school grounds & made it an ice skating rink. Lots of Fun...
"The Good ol' Days".
I remember the firefighters used to flood a field for an ice skating rink. They plowed the snow to the sides and one small shack had a pot bellied stove in it so kids could warm up a little.
We played Crack the Whip - anybody remember that? One kid in the middle with a line of kids attached, skating in a circle as fast as they could. Eventually the kids on the end could not keep up, became detached and went flying into the snowbanks. That was okay except when sleet had covered the snowbanks with a layer of ice - ouch! Good times!
Meo, hope the snow and wind stops and the roads clear up for your journey! I do not enjoy frigid weather anymore either.

I do not enjoy this weather either! It's 21°now and I worry a little about getting out of here. I'll be doing a lot of praying, that's for sure.
When I was young they flooded the field and had the skate house with the same type of stove. I was too chicken to play crack the whip but sure had fun skating.
In 2001, we headed south from Oregon, in our motorhome, with our three dogs & two cats, two days before Thanksgiving. We parked overnight at the I-5 Weed, CA rest area. There was a dusting of snow.
On Thanksgiving Day, we pulled into the parking lot for Avi Casino, close to Laughlin, Nevada, across the Colorado River from Fort Mohave, AZ. It was 89 degrees F... ...In May, it got up to 120 degrees F.
We headed north lickety- split, to our OR forests & mountains.
Well, as much as I wanted to leave today, it's not going to happen. The weather forecast was wrong and it's not going to be warm today plus there's a strong wind. I do not want to fight the wind when it's cold and snowy. I'm now aiming for Thurs when there's supposed to be less wind.
The car is packed except for the electronics, which I don't want to chance freezing. I left out enough food for a few days and now just waiting for the weather. There will be a few odds and ends I'm sure I'll realize I would have forgotten, but not much.
I don't feel bad about waiting as there is an end in sight. It's to my advantage to wait for better weather.
