California- NYC may be more impressive than any city in CA, but it's a big drop in quality to number 2. California has 3 great US cities. The nature, variety, and weather really put CA over the top for me. NY has some beautiful areas too, but California is in a class of its own.
Texas vs Florida- I'm going to have to think about this more. My rankings of the cities in the states:
1. Miami/FLL
2. Austin
3. Houston
4. Tampa Bay
5. (tied) DFW
5. (tied) Orlando
7. San Antonio
8. JAX
9. El Paso
Florida has way better beaches, but Texas has a more varied landscape with everything from beaches to swamps to forests to plains to deserts to mountains. TX is a much more interesting state geographically.
