California vs Hawaii - Hawaii is nice but I've never had any desire to live there. On the other hand I want to both visit and live in CA.

New York vs Colorado - Looks like the end of the road for good ol' Colorado! I'd personally take Colorado but I can see why people would prefer NY for NYC alone.

Texas vs Michigan- Texas for sure. The Upper Peninsula is gorgeous but Texas cities are pretty hard to beat.

Florida vs Oregon- This is kinda hard. I love both states but I'd give the slight edge to Oregon

California vs Hawaii - this one is harder than previous votes for Hawaii, but I ultimately stick with Hawaii for several reasons, to include better weather, an easier going way of life, cheaper in terms of where I'd like to live in Hawaii vs. in California, and isolation (during these covid times, that has been a blessing, though it doesn't always feel like it otherwise). Also, Hawaii may very well be more Democrat leaning than California in terms of state government bodies (I'd have to double check that, though), but California on the whole (and acknowledging that there are still conservative cities and counties in California) is more left wing than Hawaii, which also plays a role in my choice.

New York vs Colorado -scenery wins out here for me.

Texas vs Michigan - I want to choose Michigan so badly, but ultimately warmer weather wins out for me.

Florida vs Oregon - again, warmer weather for me wins out.

California vs Hawaii - I have no desire to live in either, but at least CA is on the continent

New York vs Colorado - Western Colorado has a definite appeal

Texas vs Michigan - easy choice

Florida vs Oregon - another easy choice

California vs Hawaii - so much variety in CA.. Yosemite, Redwoods, Big Sur, Death Valley, plus the Bay Area..

New York vs Colorado - Upstate is underrated, the Finger Lakes and Adirondacks are great... and of course NYC. Colorado just doesn’t have as much beyond the Rockies

Texas vs Michigan - I guess big states have an unfair advantage, but that one was a bit closer because of the UP. If only Texas had great cities beyond Austin..

Florida vs Oregon - I love scenery over cities (unless they’re really special), so the Columbia River Gorge, Pacific Coast and Painted Hills win it for me.

Can't imagine any of the big 4 losing (Hawaii might've advanced if it wasn't up against California, though). I think the next two rounds will be much more interesting.
