I can't see how that makes 112F at midday more bearable than 90F, tropical humidity, and ocean breezes close at hand.
Think about it like this:
Today in Phoenix, it'll top out at 106 degrees with 15% humidity at that time and a dew-point of 49 degrees. That leads to a feels-like temperature of 103.
Today in Tampa, it'll top out at 91. Humidity ranges from 60-91%. Dew point about 74 degrees. Feels-like temperature at the hottest part of the day: 102.
Not much cooling off when the Gulf water temperature is 90 and the Atlantic temperature is 87.

It may not be much cooler but just having the presence of water nearby as an option for a fun activity is better than not. In Arizona, the options are bake in the sun or stay inside. In Florida, the options are similar, but with the added ability for beach lounging, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, water sports etc. In similar weather, 100/100 times I choose Florida.

Or you can go up into the mountains where it’s cooler. Not to mention AZ has quite a few options for water recreation
California vs. ALASKA - I'll take wilderness over madness.
Hawaii vs. NORTH CAROLINA - Charlotte is one of my favorites. I would love to visit The Islands though.
NEW YORK vs. Washington - Neither major city is really my thing. Outside of that, they both have some really nice areas.
Pennsylvania vs. COLORADO - I do like the historic nature of Pennsylvania. I also liked Pittsburgh. That being said, give me the Rockies.
TEXAS vs. Massachusetts - As noted previously, I really like Boston. But, for now, I'll take The Beast.
Ohio vs. MICHIGAN - Sadly, I'm a life long Lions fan. Thank God for the Red Wings. I also like Southern Ohio.
FLORIDA vs. Arizona - Both a little on the warm side, and filling quickly. Better cities in the Wang.
OREGON vs. New Jersey - Outside of Portland, and Seattle, I'll take the Northwest, over the Northeast.
All my favorite states were eliminated, not surprisingly. This is basically just the most populated states, with 49 and 50 thrown in.
So there we have it. Here are all the results. We are down to 8 States now. Stay tuned, as I will have Round 4 posted any minute!
