I would have tp agree.

No traffic accidents, less costs to stay warm, people can get outside more...etc.

I've said it before, it's nice I suppose to have temps above normal, but even when temps are near normal in the Tri-State area, winters are not too bad to handle. It's those below normal winters with above normal snowfall that make winter here seem like the Great Lakes or upper Midwest, or where ever they get severe winters. So yes it's nice

In the near term, I think no big changes until at least mid - January. I do think that it would be a long shot to get no snow at all this winter season. I think (?) there has never been a zero or even T (trace) season total at any of the 3 NWS stations in our area.

No there has not. BDR's least was 4.9" last winter which shattered the previous record of 8.2" in 1972-73 (it's possible they had even less in 1918-19 when NYC only had 3.8" for the whole winter (and no 1"+ falls until March, more on that below), but records started in 1948. There's also a couple of winters in the 1930s when NYC totaled 5-10" of snow for the winter.

Central Park's record is also last winter, 2.3", previous being 2.8" in 1972-73. The other 2 NYC airports and Newark got less in 1972-73 than last winter.

I'm assuming the third one is BDL. They're not even close to "no snow". Record is 14.7" in 1936-37 (22.4" of snow last winter, which would only be a few inches below normal at BDR or NYC). There is an "asterisk" to this as for some reason they didn't record snow totals from 1997 to 2000 and 1997-98 may have broken it. It was BDR's third least snowiest winter at 8.9" and Central Park had only 0.5" until a somewhat freakish 5" storm on March 22, the latest into the winter they went without a 1"+ storm (all that hype about 2 years without an inch of snow has an asterisk too....they are going by calendar days.....last Feb 27-28 they had a 1.8" snowfall that had 0.9" before midnight on the 27th and 0.9" after midnight on the 28th....almost seems rigged )

Maybe we get something like January 2000 where the first half was super warm and the 2nd half super cold and snowy....

The push back game is real.

Every year we hear... "in 5 days", "in 2 weeks", "by end of month", ect ect.

We're lucky to get just 3 weeks of winter....in winter

It's just the new pattern we entered in 2020. It's obvious we're in a 1980s type pattern.

From 2010-2019 we actually had a ton of winter in winter.. a 1960s type pattern,.... Not now. Move on. Let it be Spring!!!

Bridgeport, CT is now 20 days away from setting a new record of longest stretch for not getting over 2" of snow.

Last time was 2/14/22... 684 days ago.

NYC keeps extending its stretch for a 1 inch snowfall

We're not talking about a snowstorm here... It's 1 & 2 inch snowfalls. That is a sad stat

I would uncover it. Dry weather is on tap right into the weekend it looks like. Seasonal temps in the low - mid 40's F. Not too bad for late Dec/early January:
