Well, they have always pandered to Gays & Lesbians, never actually having done anything for them.
The reasoning is because of how some feel Republicans will react to a gay candidate.

Does he scare the right so much that the disenfranchised religious people come back to your party instead of staying home ?

As for you, since you claim to actually be ok with gay people, will you go toe to toe with the Right wing pacs that are going to attack Mayor Pete ?

Could it be that some people are really just interested in stirring the pot? So if it suits their purpose to be on threads fervently supporting Trump that is fine and if they start threads like this one, being somewhat positive about Mayor Pete that works also. Whatever helps keep the discussions going and the anger level on the upside.

Just musing.

This early in the election?

No one. This is the time when just about anyone who's drawing some interest can get an enthusiastic crowd for free. Early on, people will pay for seats because they want to see the new guy in town.

Every candidate who shows some potential always gets a honeymoon. Those that fail to get the honeymoon never last for very long.

But by around this time next year, the honeymoon will be long over for all those who entered the race so early. They will all have either built up a support base or will be on their last legs, trying to hold on long enough to get into Super Tuesday.

With 8 months left in 2019 and 11 more to go in 2020, all the early candidates haven't even run for a full quarter of the race yet.

So why are you posting here? Not one comment about the topic.

What? This thought is totally outside reality.

If the Democrats were fighting Buttigieg, he wouldn't be in the top tier right now!

Since the election is 19 months away, I have no idea if Pete will be around or be gone by then, but for sure, his sexual orientation isn't harming him or his chances. It should be pretty obvious that his support is growing.

Will being gay cost him votes? Sure it will.

Will his opponents inside his party try to use it against him? Maybe, or maybe not. Right now, no Democrat is fighting another Democrat for position. It's far too early for that, and they all have plenty of voters they will try to win over they haven't gotten yet.

They're all still planting seeds hoping they'll get a crop. It will be months before any will know if their crop is growing or not, and if it isn't, that's when they may start fighting for voters.

Every Democrat in the running wants to defeat Trump. That fighting may never happen at all, because every Democratic voter wants Trump defeated.

It's far better for a loser to throw in with one of the winners to join that effort than it is for them to try to fight Buttigieg. Or Beto, Harris, or any of the others. Fighting each other won't win any of them more voters.

But there might be one or two who try it in a field as large as this one is, because they all want to win. A desperate idiot could try an attack, as a last-ditch try at saving himself. It happens every election, even if it almost always backfires.

Come back in 10 months with your claim, and it may be valid by then, but it's nonsense right now.
